Walking on Wednesday ~ Burnt. Out. But I just keep swimming.....

Yup. Think it finally has hit me.
I. Am. Burnt. Out.

How do I know? It could be that I wake up every day wishing for a vacation.

That when I am getting ready to go in to work I just wish I could hire someone to go in for me.

That I can't even find the motivation to get out there and run/walk (knowing this usually gives me the energy to get through the day.)

On my one day off I spend in sweatpants and fluffy socks, not brushing my hair, not doing any chores, barely getting off the couch. I couldn't even get up to put the kettle on for a nice cup of tea.

It could be that I wasted 2 hours before I HAVE to go in to work just trying to find pictures for my neglected blog that I didn't even feel like writing for the past week. Not even Music Monday!

Worst of all.....
1950's Housewife, complete with flashy eyelashes,
and Shaun of the Dead, Zombie Killer
I didn't even help the kids with their Halloween costumes! Not Until 2 a.m. when I woke up off the couch and realized what a poop head I was, telling them to do it themselves, because I was so darned tired and just didn't feel like finding that motivation to think about Halloween.

They were left to their own to come up with costumes from stuff we had around the house. And I do think they did fabulous jobs! They did it how Halloween SHOULD be done -  created from what you have at home, not with expensive store bought costumes.

(we did get these eyelashes a while back thinking she was going to be something else for Halloween, so I am glad she got to use them and of course love this goofy pic of her showing them off....sorry it's blurry - it was early....)

I finally enjoyed a bit of Halloween seeing them this morning, and being the good mom taking pics. But I am still struggling with the rest of it. Burnt. out.

Here is where I should have encouraging suggestions, where I should have the solution to this heavy problem. But sadly, all I can say is, I just keep going. I just keep swimming, like Dory from Finding Nemo

But sometimes it is so hard to keep swimming when you just don't feel like swimming.

How do you keep going? How do you get back your spark??
How do you find that motivation to get back in and keep swimming?

  1. Coffee in the morning helps, but only one cup. More than that and I'm wired (not a good thing). I plant a smile on my face and say, "It could be worse." And, the best motivational method ever--I work out. Yesterday, I didn't even get out of my jammies. I have those days...

  2. I know the feeling of burnt out! Just remember when you have time to yourself enjoy it without the stress of worrying about all the things going on in your daily life. That is the only way to stay sane when you are always busy. Take care of yourself first and then everything else will fall into place.
Your kids looked great! That is the best way to do Halloween working with what you have on hand.

  3. A day in your jammies is always nice. I do that on at least one of my days off each week, especially if the errands of the day can wait. Enjoy those days!

Sorry to hear you missed out on Halloween, but your kids did a good job with their costumes.

Is it at all possible to get some help in your shop? Even just one day a week, so you can take 2 days off? Maybe ask around for volunteers, any of those folks that have contributed to the shop in some way might be able to work it for you one day a week, or even one day a month (if you can manage to get a few helpers). Hiring help may be out of the question, but with so many connections in your shop, you should be able to find volunteer help... Think about it...
