Thursday Thought of the Day ~ Don't Think Too Much

Image
I stood there, contemplating. It had just started snowing.  I thought, 'Do I really want to go run in the snow today?' It suddenly hit me - if I stood there any longer,  I would talk myself right out of running.  So without further thought, I went. And it was a good run. Don't think about it. Just go do it.

Walking on Wednesday ~ Duct Tape

Image
Duct Tape. It should be on the list of greatest inventions. Why is it so great? Because you can use it for a seemingly inexhaustible variety of things.  I am not the first to mention such, nor will I be the last. I also cannot possibly find bunches of great stuff made out of or done with duct tape. Just do your own search and you will be amazed at the genius uses of the stuff.  No, today I will simply share a couple 'light bulb' moments in our house that involve duct tape. Very cool duct tape I should add. We each got one roll for Christmas from my ingenious sister, who wrote 'You can always use duct tape' on each roll. Got a binder that has seen better days? Duct Tape! Did those plastic thingy's at the end of your shoe laces come off? Duct Tape! Just a couple examples. I didn't get the chance to take a picture of my duct tape moment - using it as a guide on my sewing machine to mark where the wide bit fabric I had to sew had to line up.  I am sur

Music Monday! Two For Tuesday ~ Dropkick Murphys

Well, I did it. I signed up for my second 5k run -  The 7th Annual Shamrock Run . Every time I go out and run, I find myself mentally preparing for the next run, and now I am committed. I know I have mentioned the play list my oldest son made for me for Christmas, so I won't bore you more with how much I love it, but I do want to feature one of the songs that really gets me going. And because it's Two For Tuesday you get 2 awesome songs by Dropkick Murphy's . I am in the process of figuring out the order of songs for my race playlist, and this first one is definitely on it, probably in the middle or end somewhere because it really boosts me. Also, it is fitting to feature in celebrating the Shamrock Run! What a kick-ass band. There is just something about the toughness, go for it all attitude of this Irish Punk Rock Band . This next song is not currently on my run playlist, but may get added for the end of the race...... A wee bit o' bagpipes is also

Music Monday! Say Hey (I Love You)

I don't know about anyone else, but today started off as an incredibly bad Monday. It was after only 6 hours of interrupted sleep that I had to get up, and then deal with missed bus, grumpy kids, and icky weather. I am on my 3rd week of working straight, so the thought of going in to work was less than positive. I am mentally exhausted, and physically lacking sleep. (yes, I didn't open the shop some days, but those days were completely filled with working from home.) After dropping off the kids at school, a sink full of dirty dishes from the night before was staring at me, most unpleasantly. And I REALLY didn't feel like running, but I hadn't run for the past 2 days,  (and had much more ice cream than I should have!!) so knew I would totally regret not going. Well, as runners know, a run is a great way to change that mood. And that it did, I was in a much better mood after my run. When a friend of mine suggested this song to help raise the mood this Monday,

Music Monday ~ Now for a Moment of Zen

Image
Take a moment, take a deep breath.  Let yourself relax,  let yourself get out the headphones,  plug them in,  and sit back  for a full 25 minutes of Zen.  How a zen moment should be.  Namaste.
