Artwork seen

Image
A quick note for those who have asked. The artwork hanging in my dining room where I was working on my first quilt, as seen in my Quilt Story , is a custom remarque by Mackenzie Thorpe of Walking the Fish done for my husband after he and Mackenzie, and their entourage, had a 'night out on the town' in Manhatten following an opening reception. It actually says 'Love' all over it, which is all but invisible untill you turn on a blacklight. Not only is Mackenzie a great guy, we love is work. A simple search will pull up tons of info on Mackenzie. Probably for the best selection, check out Peabody Fine Art Gallery . They are a reputable gallery my husband has had experience in dealing with ,and great to work with.

Store Update - Scarfs for Spring and Snowstorm!

Image
We wereTeased with Hints of Spring on Wednesday, then a Snow Storm Warning onThursday! Perfect time to add 2 great Scarfs to my store! First was the Hint of Spring. The sun was shining, it was above freezing (warm for here in Western New York) and Spring seemed right around the corner. Voila - Great Sunshine Yellow color scarf with hints of Blue sky at the ends with cute little tassels. This one you could really wear anytime of year - it looked so fashionable on my daughter here! It really does make me smile. Check it out to fine more pics and prices at my store via this link: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=41531844 Then the Snow Storm Warning. This called for thick and warm, while being pretty - Stripes in my favorite colors!! A thick, warm Purple and Blue Striped scarf, to make shoveling all this snow a little less horrible. Check out more via this link: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=41507512 It has been snowing and freezing snowing since Thursday

My Etsy store

Raige Creations on Etsy.com came to life, fittingly, in January of 2010. New year, new decade, etc... It took a little push...mainly laid off from job, sold house, moved to temporary lodgings with the plan to move again. This gave me the overwhelming feeling that NOW was the time to start doing something I enjoyed and try to get paid for it! The other push that started the momentum was a very lovely gift from my mother-in-law of yarn and a crochet hook, some patterns, and a quick reminder lesson or two. After a few practice things (I made a small and large gift bag much like the yellow one here - which I now use to store my hooks and yarn) I was really motivated to create more things! And voila: Purses & cell phone holder I was HOOKED! Where to sell was the next question. I had read of Etsy.com through a magazine, all things handmade. It is a nice sight and makes it very easy for vendors to showcase, sell, and get support from other creators. And very affordable. Perfect for Raige

The Quilt Story

I do also make quilts, though it has been a little while since my last one. It started with some Vintage fabric found in my mothers basement. Wait, actually it started before that with a book from about 1970 obtained from an estate sale. (we went though a phase of avidly attending these and collecting all kinds of 'things'). It is a book all about quilting, how to do it, the different styles, giving everything from the typical bed sizes to the techniques for many different kinds of quilts.Bored one evening I read it and thought - I might be able to actuallly do this. Then came the Vintage fabric from the basement. I decided to keep some when cleaning out Mom's basement and eventually it hit me - this fabric would make a nice quilt. So, right around Thanksgiving 2008, I decided to go for it. Silly me I thought I could finish it by Christmas and give it as a nice gift. I decided for the recipient a Queen size would be fine, so measured my own comforter (on a Queen sized bed)

Here is some past Raige

Morning from snow-land. Yes, snowing again. I am new at this, so bear with me. I am here because I wanted a place to showcase my works, and allow people to see a bit more about Raige Creations. To get a feel of everything it is about. That can't be done in my store (on Etsy.com -link above) so I needed a place where I could show where it started, where it is now, and a place where I could ramble doesn't hurt either... Here is how it all started. One afternoon, sitting in our front yard on a Saturday, trying to sell the Jam and Tarts I had made (it was summer, fruit was everywhere, but it was not that warm...). Yes, no one came by. Well, 1 person first thing in the morning, but the rest of the day we (my daughter and I ) just sat in the yard chatting, brainstorming, being silly. And Raige Creations came about. Rebecca (me) + Paige (her) = Raige. We create = Raige Creations! Sounded Great! She is creative too. She had just designed a Teddy Bear for her best friend and we were mak
