Walking on Wednesday ~ Burnt. Out. But I just keep swimming.....

Image
Yup. Think it finally has hit me. I. Am. Burnt. Out.   How do I know? It could be that I wake up every day wishing for a vacation.  - Or -  That when I am getting ready to go in to work I just wish I could hire someone to go in for me.  - Or  - That I can't even find the motivation to get out there and run/walk (knowing this usually gives me the energy to get through the day.) - Or - On my one day off I spend in sweatpants and fluffy socks, not brushing my hair, not doing any chores, barely getting off the couch. I couldn't even get up to put the kettle on for a nice cup of tea. Walking on Wednesday - Cleaning Instead of Walking - Not My Idea of a Good Time

Image
I do not enjoy cleaning. (I know I am not alone here, right?) I find it gets in the way of accomplishing other, more enjoyable and just as important things. You know, like paying bills! I read all the time tips and suggestions for quick cleaning - but nothing changes the fact that I just do not like cleaning. I find it utterly frustrating that you spend so much time and energy on making your space beautifully clean and tidy, turn around and BAM , it is dirty again almost instantly. Why am I complaining today? Because I am sitting here listening to the pitter-patter of rain hitting the windows and roof as it pours down outside. And I am really not in the mood for getting cold and wet. So, I turn to my messy, dirty house. Is it fate's funny way of telling me I am a terrible housekeeper, that I just listed Maidcraft, A Guide to the Art of Housekeeping last night, and today the weather is keeping me inside looking at the hairballs and dust and piles of papers, yarn, and STUFF...

Walking on Wednesday - Grandma's Apron

Image
The principle use of Grandma's apron was to protect the dress underneath, but along with that, it served as a holder for removing hot pans from the oven; it was wonderful for drying children's tears, and on occasion was eve used for cleaning out dirty ears. Old Time Kitchen Vintage Waist Apron From the chicken-coop the apron was used for carrying eggs, fussy chicks, and sometimes half-hatched eggs to be finished in the warming oven. Vintage Christmas Smock Apron When company came those old aprons were ideal hiding places for shy kids; and when the weather was cold, grandma wrapped it around her arms. Brown Checked Smock Apron Those big old aprons wiped many a perspiring brow, bent over the hot wood stove. Chips and kindling-wood were brought into the kitchen in that apron. Cottage Country Vintage Waist Apron From the garden it carried all sorts of vegetables. After the peas had been shelled it carried out the hulls. Bright Blue Vintage Smock Apron In the ...
