Zibbet Exhibit ~ Burlap Possibilities

I made a goal to feature more creative people this year, so along these lines, the Zibbet Exhibit is a great way to show many interpretations on a single theme or idea by many different talented artisans and artists.

Today, the idea is burlap. I love the look of burlap, and have even tried my hand at being creative with burlap. It is a challenging thing to work with, so that these creations are so well done tells you something about the talent of these creators.

There is so much you can do with burlap, these are just some of the possibilities.

  1. I made a burlap wreath recently...liked the look of it even more than the trendy mesh wreaths. I made it with the traditional earthy tan color and accented with a dark brown burlap bow. But I really like the deep purple burlap wreath you showcased above! Not so sure I'll ever love the smell of burlap, though...LOL!

I love burlap wreaths too, and I am not really a 'wreath person'.
I bet your wreath was beautiful! I love the tone on tone color palette.

  3. Thanks for introducing me to Zibbet! Burlap...My mother made each of the grandchildren a burlap bag and edged the girls' bags in lace trim. That was her "wrapping paper" for Christmas gifts.

How awesome, I bet those bags were beautiful. I love that she used them as wrapping paper. (I hate wrapping gifts.....)

  6. Thanks for featuring my owl in your great burlap collection. I must agree, it is quite a challenging material to work with, especially the looser weave ones, because it just wants to fray. Also, it leaves the sewing machine incredibly dusty - I always try to use one of my old machines when doing anything with burlap. I've also made a couple of cushions from coffee sacks which look great on a beat up leather sofa I have.
    Thanks again
