Weekend Musings ~Buddies are the Best

Image
I can hardly believe how long it has been since I added to my blog. I often open a tab, create a new post, and watch the blinking cursor tempting me to type something. But it blinks in vain. I sit there, my mind blank. Mind you, it is not blank any other time. In fact, I have written many a great post in my head while laying in bed at 1am or 2am, after a 2 or 3 hour nap on the couch. But the minute the cursor blinks, great words and ideas disappear. I wrote this blog many months ago, but never thought it was quite ready to post. Plus, I had to ask my friend if I could post her picture. We had both been so busy we didn't get to talking about that, or even swimming much. But here this is, I am sharing now because I finally asked and she said sure! The sad part is, we were chatting because she is moving away. And I said, " NO!!! - What will I do without my Swim Buddy!?!? Oh, by the way I have this blog....." So much like the original night I wrote this , I am sitting here o...

Weekend Musings ~ The Universe Spoke, I Must Write a Letter

Image
When the Universe speaks, we should listen. We certainly don't want to risk ignoring it, right? Okay, well maybe it was just the ceiling fan, and my over stuffed drawer. Either way, I got the message and I listened and did what was suggested.  I was looking for something in one of my junk drawers. Well, not junk, but a drawer where things get thrown to hide if the maid is coming to clean. Mostly it has jewelry, my jewelry cleaning cloths, miscellaneous things I didn't know what to do with and needed to hide.  Somehow, this box of stationary had been in there for donkey years. Mind you, donkey years here is a few years, 4 maybe that we have been in this house. Not sure, but for all I know this box could have been tossed here when we moved in and there it has been ever since. But, this box itself is truly from donkey years ago, probably from 70 years ago. I opened the drawer, and the box got stuck so I couldn't fully open the drawer, and the lid came off, and then I struggled...

Music Monday ~ Double Feature! Never Tear Us Apart and Madness

Image
Writing has been difficult for me lately. The words just do not come easily, or if they do they are a jumbling mess of rambling on. And not good rambling. So to ease back in I thought a Music Monday would be a nice, easy effort. Well, turns out that wasn't as easy as I thought.  Let the rambling begin! Can you believe this is only the 2nd blog I have done in 2022? I have had lots of stress, work is ridiculously busy and there was an incident that has been quite stressful to deal with. I do hope to write more about that soon. But the words to write about that are not pleasant words, and what I have to share about that I (finally) realize is precisely why I am struggling with writing.  What happened to me made me more reserved, questioning every action I did. I realize now the effect this incident has had on me, and the effect it had on my writing.  Now that I realize what has been the cause of my writing difficulties, I can begin to work through it and get back to writing....

Music Monday! You Get What You Give

Image
It's been a while. I keep wanting to get a Music Monday done. I keep picking songs, even have a Two for Tuesday picked. But when it came to writing, I was at a loss. Nothing to give. Yes, I have written about having nothing to write about. A f ew times , and then some more . It is every writers problem, at one time or another. So I will save those songs when I feel the reason I picked them in the first place. But this song I heard, and I just felt like writing. I was avoiding the Debate last Wednesday, actually. Hubby wanted to 'witness history' or something like that. Me? Nope. I honestly have such a strong dislike for Trump, that listening to him at all gets me in such an annoyed and angry state it takes me a long time to recover from. I haven't uttered much about the election or the candidates for this reason. It is best for me to just put headphones on and listen to some good music and stay in my happy place. Anyway, to drown out the blathering on TV, I put ...

Hello?

Image
No, not the new Adele song , I have yet to hear that believe it or not. But at least I am not out of the loop enough to know there is a new Hello song that isn't Lionel Ritchie.... Yes, it would appear I have been MIA for quite a while. And in some ways I have been. It has been almost an entire year since I have posted a blog. I have some drafts, but also almost an entire year ago. But I have been around. Just distracted by real life (which honestly has been wonderful). I gave up my smart phone, and do scroll around Facebook and Pinterest, but writing has taken a back seat to actual life and work. So, now I wonder if there is anyone out there that still would like Raige's thoughts of life, motivation, and creation? Yes, the Floyd song does fit here. Is there anybody in there?  Just nod if you can hear me. (But since it is not Monday, no music today.) I will still try to write, because as I realized something: I often wrote thinking I was helping others, but as I ...

Sunday Update ~ When Your Brain Can't Write

Wow, it has been over a week since I have written. The week actually flew past. I did try to write, but every time I tried, my head went completely silent. It was not as though it was empty. It was full. It was racing.  It was contemplating and figuring and planning. But it had nothing to write. When I tried to type, my mind went silent. There was nothing I could put to words on the screen. (I wanted to say words on paper, but that is not the way anymore is it?) The words were gone, my mind could not speak in writing anymore. It could only contemplate, figure, and plan. That was my week. A head full of things, yet nothing to write. This coming week, however, I already have Music Monday planned (though not yet written), and things I could post for other days too. I think my head will have an easier time of writing this coming week, it has already been thinking in writing , and I have been able to get through this post rather easily. The week 'off' from writin...

Yes, I Know What I Look Like. NO, I Don't Care.

Image
source: Pinterest At 7am this morning, the rain pouring down, this was my entire attitude.  I know I started out yesterday a bit crazy , but I eventually got it together and went to town to take care of a few things.  I actually got a lot accomplished! Today, I decided it would be a leggings and big baggy sweatshirt kind of day. I had a lot to do, but didn't have to go anywhere. So I decided to slum it a bit. (I didn't even wash my hair!) Well, here it is, almost 2pm, and I haven't crossed anything off my list! YES, I even made a list!! So I decide to at least get a blog done. And as you can tell, I was not really motivated to write, but I just decided to get it done, and that would be one thing off the list. Not the best attitude going into it.  This is one of many days I have had like this lately. Sorry, but I have to ask.... "What is wrong with me?"   I have had far too many days where nothing gets crossed off the list! I have several of those d...

It has been so long since I have done a collection!  I think the aliens helped me do this one....I have been so out of sorts this weekend it could only mean one thing.... Aliens. Aliens Made Me Do It   Curated By: RaigeCreations ArtFire.com Part of my goal to get back to featuring cool artists and creators!  So, now that the aliens are happy, I can move on to other things. But I must say, this has strangely motivated me....See what searching creative things can do for you? Give it a try! Look at creative things, search silly topics. If you are in a funk, this may just be the thing to get you out.  What strange things have you searched in the hopes of getting your motivation back on track?

CRAP! I Missed A Day!!

Image
Oh, the horror.  Oh, the disappointment. I missed a day of NaBloPoMo.  A NaBloPoMo FAIL! Oh The HORROR  by  hybristophilia666  on  Polyvore It's not like I didn't know it was going to happen. I did. I had a very busy day and after dinner last night I just wanted to relax. I sat on the couch, Kindle in hand  new book waiting, full belly, family all around chillin', and said "Oh CRAP, I didn't post a blog today!" Then, I turned on my Kindle while hubby found a movie for us to watch (I can read and watch a movie at the same time. Multitasking...you Mom's know what I mean), I settled in on the couch, and the thought of blogging evaporated. It's not that I am short of ideas! I have 4 drafts going, and I even have handwritten in my journal ideas for other posts. If NaBloPoMo  right after NaBloWriMo  has done anything for me, it has got me to write every day, whether I actually post or not.  But last night, I just couldn't...

Daily Blogging is Damn Hard! NaBloPoMo Prompt

Image
Tell us what you have learned so far from daily blogging. The NaBloPoMo prompt from Friday. Always a day late with the prompts, but here is some of what I have learned. I learned daily bloggin is damn hard.  I learned it means forcing myself to write even when I don't want to.  I learned that some days it is okay to just blog about the mood of the day, and other days it really helps to have prompts . I learned it keeps me from proofing and changing my posts 10 gazillion times before I post it.  I learned it makes me re-write entire posts. I learned the delete key is easy to hold down. I learned sometimes it is okay to share that thing I wasn't sure I should share. I learned it is okay to not include a picture with every post. (Even though I feel I MUST...ADD PICTURE....with this ten-second-attention-span world we live in.) I learned some days I am writing just for myself. I learned some days I am writing for other people, and those are the da...

Thursday Thought of the Day ~ If You Could Change One Thing About Yourself ~ NaBloPoMo prompt

Image
NaBloPoMo Prompt . If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? This prompt had me really stuck.  You see, I find quotes about things I want to remind myself, but to change myself? Aren't I perfect the way I am? source I started working on this prompt Tuesday. I know there are things I would change. The difficult question was ~ did you want to hear about my weight or body parts I wish were different? I am sure the answer to that is NO. And truthfully, I really can't change those things, and finally after 4 decades, I am actually pretty OK with how I look now. (except for the grey, and I DO change that every 4-6 weeks) Tuesday came and went. Didn't write this post. source Wednesday came. Okay NOW I was going to finish this post. After all, this was the prompt for Nov. 6th. Wednesday was Nov. 6th! Right on schedule. I sat most of the day trying to figure out what I would change.  Oh, I would change the money situation, but wouldn...

Walking on Wednesday ~ Writers Block or Procrastination?

Image
Day 2 of NaBloWriMo , and already I am already a day late.  I could blame  Writers Block before, but that itself could be a great  post . But this week, nuthin. Nada. Or it could be I procrastinated writing all day yesterday..... Later, I will be sure to catch up. I will write brilliantly....later.

Walking on Wednesday ~ Writing by Hand

Image
My daughter is so sweet and thoughtful. When back to school shopping she insisted on buying me a journal. Out of the blue! She brought me over to the journal section in the book store and asked which one I liked. I thought she was getting one for herself. "Well you have to pick honey, it's up to you" , I said.  She said, "No I want you to pick!"   " Why?" I asked.  "Well, I want to get one for you" , she said.  I was confused. " Uh, why?"   Why did I need a journal???  She said, " For you to write in. You want to start writing, Mom, so this will help you.  It will help you write, you can put quotes in there too, and get your ideas down." I mumble...and say "But I write on the computer" ....and she rolls her eyes. She continues, with a hint of disappointment  "I thought sometimes I could write quotes in there too, and you can bring this with you anywhere, and it's pretty isn't it?"   ...

Walking on Wednesday ~ Emotions Stall, and Then Lead to Motion

Image
Struggling to write lately, I found I have been going through a long list of emotions. I have tried, perhaps too hard, to find words of wisdom to share, funny stories to tell, sayings that mean something important. Each time I think I've got something, the feeling is fleeting, and I am on to another tangent. As I go back and forth, even today when I have a definite list of things to get done, I am sad, happy, stressed, appreciative, worried, hopeful, excited, afraid. Everything. Which means it is very tough to get through my list.  A Guide! This could come in handy... The problem, it is hard to put a term to it. Sometimes if I write it, search for inspiration, give my emotions a name, it eases them. But I cannot find a way to name all this! I found myself sitting in front of the computer wishing.... -Wishing I didn't have to go in today. -Wishing it wasn't month end already.  -Wishing I could not stress.  -Seeing the sun, after a morning of fog, and thinking t...

Walking on Wednesday ~Miss Stress and Mr. Doubt - Thurs. Day. and FRIDAY!

Image
I know I know, it is Friday. Actually this post was originally something totally different that it is now. It is a story of Mr. Doubt and Miss Stress trying to make themselves a home right in the middle of my life. Rather suddenly aggressive, and rather quickly all of a sudden. Why Thurs. Day. ? Well, Wednesday was spent in an allergy fog, and Thursday was just too hard to even say when that day came around. Why was it hard? Miss Stress and Mr. Doubt had actually been hanging around since Wednesday, but I was in too much of a fog to address them. They were there, but were ignored. Well by Thursday, they were most unhappy to be ignored, and reared their ugly heads so much that I could only tackle the day in parts. Thurs. Day. It is what I wrote on our fridge message board , unable to come up with anything witty or positive to say on it.  Miss Stress and Mr. Doubt greeted me rather early.  I wrote a long-winded, negative, complaining post. Then went in to work and there ...

Music Monday! Hot N Cold

Image
It's been one of those days..... Actually, 'one-of-those-days' has dragged out for months for me now..... But it all hit me yesterday, when I stood in the closet looking at my clothes and could not decide what to wear! I pulled out dresses, then couldn't find a slip, pulled out dresses that didn't need a slip, but they needed ironing, pulled out dress pants, but was SO not in the mood for pin stripes, and then, I had a meltdown. All the while, my husband having his coffee, frustrating me even more trying to get me into things that just were not comfortable, that I just was not in the mood to wear. All the while he is perplexed as to why I just can't put on one thing and wear it! "See?" ,  he says putting on a tee shirt with holes in it and jeans with bigger holes. "It's easy!" Of course he didn't have to go and open a shop and try to sell things...so of course he didn't have to look nice, professional, and put together. I DI...

Stop and Smell the Flowers - Before I miss another NaBloWriMo day...

Image
I have only missed 2 days of posting every day this month for NaBloWriMo . So far . But the end is so close I would hate to add to that based on the  lazy feeling that has kept me from posting today.  Well, not completely lazy. I DID get a lot of work done. Made some cute Santa Toekini's , and worked on a custom order I got from the local gift shop. AND struggled with the Snowman Toekini's ...they are still in progress. (It is the yarn I am struggling with, but you will soon see.) The lazy feeling relates to not feeling like writing. It is something I have to force myself to do tonight. But the funny thing is once I start, it comes naturally tonight . This does not happen very often! I think I will let it flow , and enjoy the ideas as they come .  Stop and smell the flowers, so to speak . Come to think of it, we did just that on Sunday , during our hike. (more on the hike tomorrow in the Walking on Wednesday series )   Grouping of small, beauti...
