Walking on Wednesday ~ My 'Hood'

I love my neighborhood. Though I am sorry to say I missed my goal of walking each and every day since my birthday, I am still walking at least 5 days a week, and I still love seeing everything in my 'hood'. How about seeing some of the things in my own 'hood' today?
I run into some beautiful nature, fine neighbors, and interesting things that make me appreciate where I am. Today I am bringing you into my 'hood'.

This area is full of dog lovers. Dogs go with their families to eat, to festivals, and there is always someone walking a dog or a yard with a dog in it, whether you are downtown or here further in 'the country' as we are.
Plus, there is a dog every other house here in my hood. Some houses have 2 dogs. They each greet us with their barks, scaring LadyJ, but I think they just mean to say hello.

'yang'
'yin'
These 2 fine dogs, the 'yin' and 'yang' dogs of the 'hood', share the same house, though one always looks on from a laying position and the other runs full speed at us barking his hello's. The invisible fence keeps him from completely scaring LadyJ.
Lady J says 'who me? afraid?'

We knew that when, at the very first rest stop in North Carolina we found a special doggy walking area complete with poop bags, this state had plenty of dogs, and that they promote responsible ownership. We had no idea there would be so many in our 'hood'.
A Wildlife Habitat, no human residence here.
There are at least 3 Certified Natural Habitats in my 'hood' as well. There is no house on this particular lot, just a bunch of wildlife, apparently.
We all love nature here, even if it isn't all alive. These fine ladybugs seem to love that tree.......

I also love that even here in my 'hood', which has suburban subdivisions all around, there are creative and talented people that like to decorate their yard with their creations.

Meet the woman of concrete. I am sorry I don't know her name, but I do know her creator, Nina. She is a wonderful neighbor, and very talented too.

Ms. Concrete greets me every walk while holding a small bird in front, and often holding flowers behind her back.

I bet you know I run into squirrels and rabbits too, but of course Lady J scares them off before I can get any good pictures of them. Still trying though. This little guy was safe, high in a tree.
Each walk I see something I enjoy, even if it is just the shadows on the street.

I hope to get back to walking every day, but even if I miss a day or two, I know there will be beauty and interest in each walk. I love my 'hood'. What do you love about your 'hood'?

  1. those are rather large lady bugs! Very cool. But I'm terrified of dogs; they hate me. I've been chased by them and bitten in my own neighborhood so I probably wouldn't get to far in yours!

  2. Any hood with lots of happy dogs in it, sounds like a great hood to me! Looks like you have lots of fun stuff to see on your walks. I always look forward to your Wednesday post, just to see what you encounter on your walks.
