Finding a Good Book

I do love to read.
Although if you met me in the last 2 years,
you would never know that.
My problem?
Finding a good book!!

I have been having trouble deciding on WHICH book to read.
Finding one that I think I would be interested, getting it, and then of course finding the time to actually sit and read a book.

I have tried, I have tried a few books lately, but never got past the first few chapters. Disappointing. So much so that now I hesitate even getting a new book. I don't trust my own judgement.

I started following a great blog, The Cottage Bookshelf, that posts book reviews, and even does book giveaways! I can read the reviews and see if that is a book I think I would enjoy. This is amazingly helpful to me!

And that I have a chance to win a book is even better. I don't even know how I found this blog, but I Love it!!

The Cottage Bookshelf has regular giveaways.

The two left for this month are:
and

I will be following her blog to find my next great book, and hopefully win it in the process of searching.

How many of you, avid blog readers, read books, and how do you find good ones? Leave a comment and share.

I am open to book suggestions too, so if you have a book you recommend, please leave that in a comment as well.

Happy Reading!

  1. Sounds like a great place! I will need to check this out! Generally I read A LOT - I have several authors that I really enjoy and a watch for their books! I never seem to lack for good reading material. I also use Swap.com and trade books that I am done with for books I want to read!

  4. I read based on my mood. I can go anywhere from Edith Wharton (turn of century 1900s) or Danielle Steel - pleasure easy reads, John Grisham mostly law mysteries, easy reads, Patricia Cornwell-murder mysteries.

  6. I can't go into a bookshop without coming out with a book. I've started to remember my fav writers just in case a bookshop lures me in.

I have dozens and dozens of books I've never read or even looked at since I bought them.

And now to save my sanity, space and money, I've started to cross the road when I see a bookshop!

  7. Hi Raige!

This is an older book -- but a great one for women to read. It has some advice, humor and commen sense....It is called "Kiss My Tiara". I got it in a charity prize basket that I won and it is now one of my favorite books.
Hope you enjoy it too if you decide to give it a try!
    Best wishes and happy reading,
    Mary

  8. Wow, thank you all for such great and interesting suggestions! I really want to read The Help, Barbra!
Edith Wharton sounds interesting, Finding Charm, because I enjoyed Daphne du Maurier's books.
Mary, I will try that Kiss My Tiara book too, sounds like a great read.

Jac-Ber, sounds like you need book lovers anonymous, lol.

  9. I am addicted to books on CD. I listen to them when I am creating, cooking, or cleaning the house. They also go with me on any driving trip over 30 minutes. If you have a good narrator it is easy to get sucked in, and you are still free to work on something else.

Thanks for the link to The Cottage Bookshelf. I am always looking for a good book.

I hope you find some books that you want to read this summer.

  10. I read a lot and I mostly find books through book review blogs, friends' recommendations, Amazon offers etc. But I'm an eclectic reader so I'll read anything. :)
