Lazy Sunday and Dreams

Image
Wow. I haven't really had a lazy weekend like this one in ages. The weather took a turn, and we have had stormy and chilly weather. Not like the East Cost of the US chilly, but darn chilly for a tropical island. And it has really sapped the motivation. You would think I would be all - "It is perfect wogging weather! I am so getting out there to wog!!"  But nope. Nothing. I glance at the shoes, that is it. I guess it is good to just be lazy some weekends. And when it is rainy and gray and cool, it is quite nice to stay cuddled up on the couch under a blanket.  I even relaxed enough to have this dream, a dream that I remember, and had a content hopeful feeling to it!  It was a running dream. I have them somtimes, particularly when I haven't been running or wogging. So the dream goes: I go for a run. And I am running down some street or up some hill, breathing  heavy and everything. Feels Like I am really running, except I always feel great and fast in my drea...

Cleaning Out the Filing Cabinet...In This Weather?

Image
Yup, I am cold.  But, I haven't been outside, but I have been in the basement to store some old files.  Old files that we are not supposed to throw away for at least seven years, but now have filled up my filing cabinet so that I don't have room for the new stuff.  It is the first attempt I have made to take care of year end stuff. Mainly, I am trying to get motivated to compile everything needed for the dreaded taxes. But so far, cleaning out the filing cabinet is as far as I have gotten. And since under the basement stairs is a good place to store such piles of papers, I was under there digging out my bin of papers. The floor was cold, the basement cold, and my bin was jam packed. This lead to searching for a file box, which incidentally was full of stuff that wasn't files.  So, I had to empty it, find places for that junk, and then put the new old files in the file box. I was down there for quite a while, in only my fuzzy socks , leggings, and a sweatsh...

Walking on Wednesday ~ My Fuzzy Socks ~ NaBloWriMo Day 9

Image
My Fuzzy Socks photo courtesy of Raige Creations Something about putting on my fuzzy socks comforts me.  When the fall comes, they are the first thing I put on in the dark hours of the morning.  With my fuzzy socks on, I don't feel the chill. With my fuzzy socks on, I can tackle the day. They are warm, comfy, cozy.  They signify the change of season, the colder weather. They remind me how wonderful cuddling under hubby's quilt is. They make me feel the comfort of togetherness that comes when it gets dark earlier, it gets colder, and the holidays mean family time together.  They make me feel like staying in them all day, cooking, baking, just being at home. I can't wear them with any shoes, they are too fluffy.  When I have them on, I am not going anywhere. They make me feel like staying in them all day, writing witty things, writing compelling stories, creating anything really.  So, here I am, typing nonsense about my wonderful fuzzy ...

Music Monday! I Try

Image
I Try. I try to be fashionable usually, be cool and roll with the punches, but what comes out is mostly soccer mom, middle age comfort clothes. Today, when hubby complained that it is a 'Macy Gray Day', (because he is freezing cold - story below) and I have a short sleeve shirt on with no jacket, I sometimes have to roll my eyes and silently mumble to myself. (By the way, it was in 65 degrees out when he said this. That is cold to him, a Caribbean Guy stuck in the middle of the US.)   At least it brings back a great memory of why we call cool days Macy Gray Days.  Macy Gray in a rockin' jacket. Why do we call it Macy Gray Days?  Because of this rocking funky cool jacket Macy Gray is wearing in this picture.  Sounds crazy, so here is the story. When we lived in the Caribbean, we once made a trip to Miami in January. We didn't bring any cold weather clothes, after all we were going to be in Miami where it is usually in the neighborhood of 80 degrees fahren...

Music Monday! Hot N Cold

Image
It's been one of those days..... Actually, 'one-of-those-days' has dragged out for months for me now..... But it all hit me yesterday, when I stood in the closet looking at my clothes and could not decide what to wear! I pulled out dresses, then couldn't find a slip, pulled out dresses that didn't need a slip, but they needed ironing, pulled out dress pants, but was SO not in the mood for pin stripes, and then, I had a meltdown. All the while, my husband having his coffee, frustrating me even more trying to get me into things that just were not comfortable, that I just was not in the mood to wear. All the while he is perplexed as to why I just can't put on one thing and wear it! "See?" ,  he says putting on a tee shirt with holes in it and jeans with bigger holes. "It's easy!" Of course he didn't have to go and open a shop and try to sell things...so of course he didn't have to look nice, professional, and put together. I DI...
