I so enjoyed the Godiva chocolates I won , not just because they were SO delish, but because it made me stop, relax, and enjoy the company I was with. It also brought back memories of when I was young. My father used to buy Whitman's Samplers every holiday, no doubt bought from the pharmacy on the corner.  It was his special treat for the family, probably one he continued from his childhood. His young years were during the Great Depression (the era of Author M.L. Gardner's 1929 series which are my latest favorite books), and I am sure chocolates were a fine treat indeed. His family was from Philadelphia, where the chocolates originated so no doubt this tradition came from his father, my grandfather. Bones sez Happy Halloween Happy Halloween! It is a sad one for me today, as it marks the last day of NaBloWriMo 2013 .  And yes, it's Halloween, but we really don't celebrate that much anymore. For one, I have no candy for trick-or-treaters (we don't get any because of our long, beautiful yet potentially creepy even on a normal day, driveway). Second, my teens don't dress up for Halloween anymore (well, except my daughter who gets to dress as a literary character in AP English class - she is Elizabeth from Frankenstein, but I won't get to see her in costume!)  The most I do for Halloween is hang up my dear old friend Bones . He was an excellent Toekini model, but lately he just hangs around. I have really enjoyed this year's NaBloWriMo . I made some good new blogging friends, and my passion for blogging is even stronger now. I am sad in a way that it is done for this year. Also, I suddenly have a desire to make more Toekini's ! I think I am officially in the 'Runner' camp now. I totally relate to this card here. In fact, that is all I asked for for Christmas. All I asked for was related to running. I asked for new running shoes, I asked for new running clothes, I asked for fun socks to run in (specified that the clothes should show off said socks as well), and I even asked for my son (the music encyclopedia) to make me a running playlist.  I could not think of anything else I really wanted. I tried to think of other things, but these are all I could honestly say I really wanted. (Ironically, I repeatedly requested these things over the week before Christmas, the week I ran only 2 days.) Christmas came, and I got all these things, feeling guilty that I didn't even run Christmas day.  But I ran today. My new clothes, my new music, saving my new shoes for a drier day (I have a thing about soaking new shoes when I first get them) , and ran farther than my normal 2 miles. My goal now to reach 3...

Boys and Girls of every age Wouldn't you like to see something strange? Poor Jack Skellington  and his obsession with Christmas . There IS something about the holiday season that most of us can't resist too. Remember MY recent obsession with Christmas and Mini Stockings ??? But today, it is about Halloween .  Pumpkins, Trick-or-treating,  spookiness and skeletons . 'Bones' modeling some Halloween Toekini's . One of my 3 Halloween decorations. Enjoy the roasted pumpkin seeds and candy, and the  ghosts and ghouls . Glow in the Dark Ghost Toekini's , glowing. And trick-or-treat some for me. My kids are too old now to be interested in that. Plus our driveway is too long and spooky for us to be getting any trick-or-treaters. So it will most likely be a normal night for us.  I am thinking Spaghetti for dinner....um I mean Worms and Blood ....with garlic bread. How does that sound?? That is about as scary as things will be around here.  Wha...

Well, it was supposed to free of  Raige work . I was going to focus on home stuff, like laundry and dishes and picking up kids from sleepovers . And the morning was full of that. But then I checked the mail , and found a package from my favorite charm maker , Daresa, of Clay Art by Daresa . These yummy looking candy canes will soon be appearing on a set of Christmas Toekini's . Also in the works are a set of Snowman Toekini's .  And what Christmas is complete without Santa ? So look for Santa Toekini's too.  AND A first for  Raige  - Christmas Stockings . I am still working on the idea but the local gift shop   (their main web site here - all proceeds from sales in the gift shop in Weaverville go towards the personal care business) would like some Christmas things. I offered stockings, and they said SURE . Just gotta figure out how to get Toekini's on Christmas stockings.....what was I thinking? I wish I could say I have one of each Toekini...

T his day after Easter .... we all have CANDY on our minds,  if not the other .... Marcy Playground - Music - More Music Videos This was Marcy Playground 's one hit,  although the album this song was on is pretty good.  As Wikipedia says:   Marcy Playground   is quiet and minimalist in tone. Wozniak's songs run in many different styles: some are modern  folk music ; many have undertones reminiscent of children's songs; the blurred sound of  psychedelia  makes appearances ; and then there are the songs with a clear  rock  sound. So on Easter Monday this year,  where it is an official holiday in many countries ,  maybe the CANDY from yesterday  will have a partner -  Sex and Candy .

With Halloween right around the corner, this song popped into my head and I haven't been able to get it out since. I was introduced to Bow Wow Wow  in the early 1980's with this song, along with the whole British  New Wave  genre. This song is an easy one to get stuck in your head with the tribal drum beats and great voice of Annabella Lwin , who was at the tender age of 14 when this song was popular. Though 'Candy' in this song does not mean Halloween candy, the desire for 'Candy' is unquestionable. This song is actually a cover of the original 1960's song by The Strangeloves , who actually have a funny story. They were an American band from New York who pretended to be from Australia. According to the press releases, The Strangeloves were three brothers named Giles, Miles and Niles Strange who had grown up on an Australian sheep farm.
