Music Monday! Another Rock and Roll Christmas

Image
Never done more than one Christmas song a season for Music Mondays before, but for some reason this year I just can't help myself.  Even tho I have been complaining about that radio station that plays only Christmas music forever before Christmas, I just keep gravitating towards Christmas songs on Mondays. Especially now that we have decorated. These shots are ones my daughter took while we were decorating. So here is another Christmas song. Hubby said it better be a rocking Christmas song, and well this is the best I could find...probably not what he had in mind.  But it is rockin', and there is not better Christmas-y rock and roll name than Gary Glitter ! Our living room is decorated, the tree in fine shape. I got one trip to the mall in, so the shopping officially started.  The snowmen are in their place, right in the fireplace. (we do not light fires in there, don't worry) I dare say we are nearly ready for Christmas. Another Rock and Roll Chri...

Walking on Wednesday - My Heart is at Superstition Mountain

Image
The rain has washed away any hopes of getting my walks in thus far this week, so I am taking a virtual walk to the Superstition Mountains in Arizona .  The  Superstition Mountains  are a range of mountains near  Apache Junction ,  Arizona .  Inspired by this very cool stone pendant , and one of a kind creation by Bridget . She found this stone in the Superstition Mountains   and beautifully wrapped it in in silver plate wire to make it a piece that is stylish and chic. With such interesting color and texture in this stone, I set out to learn more about the Superstition Mountains.  The Mountains have a rich history going back to when the Spanish arrived in 1540. It is most known for The Lost Dutchman Mine . Shrouded in mystery, the mine is not only allegedly extremely rich in gold, but is also said to have a curse upon it, leading to a number of strange deaths, as well as people who mysteriously go "missing” when they attempt to locate th...

Music Monday! 12 Days of Christmas

Image
Hoping to get in to the Christmas Spirit, but finding it difficult this year, I tried to listen to that radio station that plays only Christmas music from Thanksgiving to Christmas. (they started before Thanksgiving this year! UGH!) I made it through one song.   I start getting into Christmas, then get overwhelmed, sidetracked, stresses, confused.   Kind of like this song! Finding gifts for teens, and hubby, is a bigger challenge this year with our tight budget, and no one really wanting or needing anything.  What do you give then? Still searching for answers to that.  And then the in-laws will be here too. They really don't need anything, they are now living in an RV (no room for anything), and will probably get mad at us for spending our money on them - you know how parents are. So my 12 days of Christmas are feeling a lot like the muddled, all over the place, 12 Days from Straight No Chaser . Maybe getting the tree will help me focus, or at least ...

Yup.  This great Black Mantel Clock by the Sessions Clock Company is now 30% off .  Gorgeous Art-Deco features and a simple clock face. Made by the Sessions Clock Company before it discontinued manufacture of spring driven clocks in the 1930's. The Sessions Clock Co was founded in 1903, and made spring driven clocks until the early 1930's. This one has incredible insides, and an impressive chime. Roaring lions are on each side, and the classic Art-Deco columns, with vibrant green hues, are on either side of the face. The bottom is marbled with gold, and delicate  carvings decorate the front of the wonderful clock. The feet finish off the clock casing beautifully. Now you can get it for almost $80 less than originally priced.  A very special offer for you to get that very special gift for that someone who is difficult to shop for. I hope this goes to a good home with a great mantel. Though it would even look good on a coffee table, side table, dresser, hutch,...

Walking on Wednesday - Grandma's Apron

Image
The principle use of Grandma's apron was to protect the dress underneath, but along with that, it served as a holder for removing hot pans from the oven; it was wonderful for drying children's tears, and on occasion was eve used for cleaning out dirty ears. Old Time Kitchen Vintage Waist Apron From the chicken-coop the apron was used for carrying eggs, fussy chicks, and sometimes half-hatched eggs to be finished in the warming oven. Vintage Christmas Smock Apron When company came those old aprons were ideal hiding places for shy kids; and when the weather was cold, grandma wrapped it around her arms. Brown Checked Smock Apron Those big old aprons wiped many a perspiring brow, bent over the hot wood stove. Chips and kindling-wood were brought into the kitchen in that apron. Cottage Country Vintage Waist Apron From the garden it carried all sorts of vegetables. After the peas had been shelled it carried out the hulls. Bright Blue Vintage Smock Apron In the ...

Music Monday! I Don't Like Mondays

Image
Completely feeling like this today.  I just don't like Mondays, especially today. Tell me why I don't like Monday today. I can tell you:   I gotta pay the rent, pay the cable and internet bills And it is raining and cloudy out.  I am tired, I miss the kids (we had a wonderful lazy holiday weekend). I gotta bathe the dog, do laundry, then figure out what to cook for dinner.  And somehow I gotta find the motivation to package up some things and get them off in the mail.  Then I gotta go to the Post Office. I gotta get upstairs to tackle those new coffee bags. Oh and then I gotta finish those mug cozies, meaning I gotta re-do them so they don't slide off. I hate re-doing things. I hate chores. I don't feel like going out in the rain.   I just don't like Monday today. But don't worry, no shooting spree will come out of this. I am just letting my grumpy side show for a change. Do you like Mondays?  If so, please tell me why you like Mondays!...
