Wow, Where Did December Go? Wait....It's March Now!

Image
I first started this in January, asking ' And now almost half of January? ' But now it is MARCH! Time sure does fly. And I try to write, and am plagued by ' Where do I even start? ' Then I start, and never quite finish. So, time flies but have I been having fun? A bit, yes. That and a bit of a piled on work load at the 9-5. Work load over full, the lead up to the holidays flew by, and suddenly our house was full. Kids were home from College and they got me to play a bit. I even miraculously got some time off from work! And I even managed to get the whole family up before sunrise Christmas Day to watch the sunrise together. Best present ever! Christmas Day 2016 Sunrise via  Raige Creations But suddenly the holidays were over, and I was back to work and they were back to school. The house was again so quiet. In January, I though maybe, just maybe I can get back to more writing and creating. I tried to make it higher on my priorities this year. (Not th...

Music Monday! Sweater Weather

Image
We thought it was Spring. But no. Even though the calendar says Spring, Mother Nature has other plans. I heard this song on one of my walk/runs (got 3 in last week, this week so far, a big fat none...but the week is still young....) and it was a good pace to walk to, a little slow for running for me. Still, kept me going. And yes, I was wearing a sweater (well, sweatshirt) And Yes, the forecast has SNOW in it this evening! Dangit. But, hopefully, it won't be long until we can put our sweaters away.  And for me, maybe put away for good! I will be dreaming of no more cold winters......and a Spring that really is Spring when the calendar says so......and walking and running in shorts and a tee! Can't wait. Music Monday! I Wear My Sunglasses At Night

Image
It is that time of year, the frickin Time Change. Or more officially, Daylight Savings. ( I have lamented over this odd custom for years.... ) I spent all day Monday walking around in a tired stupor, wishing it wasn't so dark when I got up and wasn't so light for so long in the evening! (it was weird eating dinner with it so light out!) But at least we can wear our sunglasses at night again! (and not appear as someone who is utterly ridiculously wearing sunglasses when it is totally dark out and obviously clinging desperately on to the 1980's lyrical fashion suggestions) I think the whole point of Daylight Savings in the beginning was fine, but in the modern world, it has lost its value. It is pointless these days! Time does not change - it continues steadily, no matter how much we all wish to stop it, or make it go faster. We aren't saving anything. I will pose the question again..... Can't we all just keep the clocks where they are and continu...

Walking on Wednesday ~ Spring has Sprung and the Circle of Life

Image
There is so much to find during Spring. The world comes alive, and we notice things with such color and hope. I have spent the last few weeks completely enjoying the Spring, mostly in the gorgeous flowers that are suddenly everywhere! We also noticed our bushes had some unusual activity lately. And look what we found! We eagerly were anticipating baby birds, peeking occasionally at the nest when Momma wasn't there to view the beautiful blue eggs. The trademark of the Robin eggs. So the weeks went on and the flowers bloomed beautifully, and started the end of their run. We check and check the nest. And one day.... Gone. All 3 gone. No shells to be found anywhere. We were all so sad about this, even though we know such is the circle of life. It is just so special to see, and witness nature's blooming all around, and just as disheartening to see nature's circle that takes away potential life. Hopefully Momma Robin had a chance to build another nest, ...

Music Monday! English Tea

Image
Good Monday to you all - and Happy Earth Day.  This morning had me noticing the landscape. The green filling in all the trees, the beautiful flowers daring to bloom after the cold nights we have had, and of course enjoying the bright sunshine.  At the shop, we have been enjoying tea from Cindi's Sacred Garden , and today is the last day of this sample. So I thought it fitting Sir Paul McCartney serenade us while we enjoy some Strong Body Tea. Perhaps not proper English Tea, but oh so good, and good for you. This weather, the sunshine, flowers, green grass and leaves on trees, it makes me want to sit in miles and miles of an English garden, stretching past the willow tree ...... Hope I can sit and enjoy some tea in my yard later this afternoon, even though there are no willow trees, and the garden is sparse with a few bulbs, not yet blooming. But I am determined to enjoy.  Enjoy your day, every day, even if it is just for an afternoon tea, in a less than Engli...

Walking on Wednesday - You know it's Spring when.....

Image
You know it's Spring when.... ~Spiders take over. Not just two webs...... But a whole field of them You know it's Spring when..... ~Doves are f.........oopps..."getting to know each other" - right outside your kitchen window "How YOU doin'?" ahem "Do you think they saw us??" You know it's Spring when..... ~It has been raining non-stop for 18 hours now,  (you know, April showers bring May flowers ) but you can still leave the windows open for fresh air.  The rain is good, it gives me hope for my very first tomato plant. The ground will be nice and moist for when I plant her, and this year we can have fresh, home grown tomatoes.  We haven't enjoyed homegrown tomatoes since we moved here. My MIL, Bridget , kept us supplied in previous years, so we really missed them last year after we moved. My first tomato plant, soaking up the rain this morning.  I have never grown tomatoes before, and s...
