Take this as literal, as in actually digging in the dirt and sand. The song relates to, as says Gabriel, "During this period I discovered the most unbelievable phenomena within myself, characteristics which I value for myself, but also characteristics with which I would rather not be confronted, like unlimited rage, or merciless hatred." But no such rage or hatred was involved in this digging. Only curiosity and awe at the finds. This led to research, a digging of sorts, for information on practices long changed and nearly lost. The site was next door to a cemetery, and after the earth and sand was greatly moved for a new development, these things were near the surface! Very interesting finds, and the mind does want the stories that go along with such things. Thankfully, hubby is a pro researcher, having the interest and curiosity to search and search until every possible thing is found out, every possible theory, scenario, etc. At times, it is tough to keep...

Handblown glass has always intrigued me, the process being one that looks incredibly difficult to me. Not to mention the heat and danger associated with this art form. Even calling it an artform can be a cause for debate, because of it's functional capabilities and scientific knowledge that is necessary to make even the simplest and most functional pieces. But creativity has a major role in it as well and that cannot be discredited in the final piece.  Without going into too much history, debate, or critiques, I want to share some of the very beautiful creations my daughter got the chance to make as part of her senior project needed for graduation this upcoming year.  The snake (in the front above is a zig zag of glass with a curious head)  is what they start with, in the torch class, to get a hang of working with glass. Some days, the distractions are a welcome relief to the stresses that are going on in your life.  I am lucky that, if I go far enough, on my run I can have such a fantastical distraction. Let me explain..... It was a beautiful foggy morning the other day - I was actually glad it was grey and foggy, it seemed to match my mood. After my warm up hill, and run through downtown, my mood wasn't much improved. This led me to want to go just a little farther. I thought it would be the one thing that would get me through the day, that I pushed myself and succeeded.  'A little extra distance would be the only thing I could be happy about today' , I thought. The stresses were so bad I didn't know how I was going to make it through the day. But then I noticed the most unusual thing. Upon what had I come across? What the was this bursting from the ground? A snake! A very large snake. Then, what should I see, a wizard to greet me? With a wise owl no less.  And th...

I stood there, contemplating. It had just started snowing.  I thought, 'Do I really want to go run in the snow today?' It suddenly hit me - if I stood there any longer,  I would talk myself right out of running.  So without further thought, I went. And it was a good run. Don't think about it. Just go do it.

We walk every day. We never think about walking, we just do it. And sometimes we get so used to doing it we don't pay full attention to what we are walking on .  I noticed a few years ago my balance wasn't what it used to be, so I really try to pay attention to what I am walking on. But yesterday, while on my walk, I stopped paying attention right about the time I really needed to be paying attention. No , I didn't fall on the grate over a section of our driveway. Our dog has even smartened up and goes around it, but cant fit where she goes so I do walk very carefully. No , I did not fall down after making it to the top of this hill, the first one I come across. I am out of breath, but am careful that I keep going and catch my breath while continuing to walk. Here is a blast from the past,  requested by my friend Heather.  (thank you Heather now this song will be stuck in my head for days!) It immediately took me back to that AM Radio always on in our kitchen, always playing this song, always in the summertime (it seemed).  I was 2 years old when this song was released, but that AM Radio played this song for years. I remember it played every summer, standing in the kitchen on those hot summer days, getting breakfast, and planning our big, empty days. Where would WE be running today? Band on the Run Band on the Run Those were the only words we ever did remember anyways. As we were running through the backyard to begin our journey for the day.
