Thursday Thought of the Day ~ Nature

Image
Thanks Pinterest We now have got three walks in over the past five days. We took a long break, but hopefully this is the start of a regular thing. And today, I realized how much I missed it. Every time we get back to walking, we wonder why we stopped. It is really such a simple thing, going for a walk in Nature. Why do we find so many excuses not to do it?  Even they days you get rained on are wonderful - the other day, in fact, we were soaked. Even the grey and cloudy days are beautiful.  Even a grey day is beautiful I knew things were starting to feel better when I wanted to take a picture. Sure, that is not the best photo. It was cloudy, it was the 'wrong' time of day, it was a rough and not brilliant sea. We hadn't seen much that was particularly interesting. But still, the waves look cool, the breeze was refreshing, and the grey is a bit soothing. I realized I wasn't feeling nature, until then. Figuring I may as well take as shot, seeing it through the lens (so t...

Two for Tuesday! Whiter Shade of Pale - Conquistador

Image
We skipped the light fandango Turned cartwheels 'cross the floor What a mood Whiter Shade of Pale creates! Hubby was searching for this song the other day. That organ haunting his mind. He just had to find it, and we must have listened to it 6 times that day. But who doesn't love the imagery of skipping the light fandango ? The poetic nature of Procol Harum songs is wonderful. I never knew any other songs they did, so I searched, and found it is not just their popular hit that is like reading a great poetic story. And though I hoped for something to find I could see no maze to unwind I feel it is safe to say, most people don't remember the unusual name of the band of that enduring classic song - one of the few singles to have sold over 10 million copies . And probably most are like me, and never heard  Conquistador , their second hit. I still get a kick out of their name, certainly not one that sticks with you, named after a cat . It never hurts ...

Music Monday! Drops of Jupiter

Image
She acts like summer and walks like rain Reminds my that there's time to change Since her return from her stay on the moon She listens like Spring and she talks like June. I think it would be nice to have drops of Jupiter in my hair. I want to take a soul vacation and trace my way through the constellations.  I want to check out Mozart while I do Tae-Bo, because I am reminded there is room to grow.  Imagine if the wind could sweep you off your feet, and we could finally get the chance to dance along the light of day, and then head back to the Milky Way. And then I imagine I would have some deep fried chicken, and a five hour phone conversation, but think I would pass on the soy latte. A good way to get through a Monday. Especially one that started at 4:45am because of the mind that would not sleep.  Now let's sail across the sun, and make it to the Milky Way, hope not all the lights are faded, and that heaven isn't overrated. Let's let Venus...

Summer Sun - a poem and a Saturday Blog Sale

Image
Summer Sun by Robert Louis Stevenson Great is the sun, and wide he goes Through empty heaven with repose; And in the blue and glowing days More thick than rain he showers his rays. Though closer still the blinds we pull To keep the shady parlour cool, Yet he will find a chink or two To slip his golden fingers through. The dusty attic spider-clad He, through the keyhole, maketh glad; And through the broken edge of tiles Into the laddered hay-loft smiles. Meantime his golden face around He bares to all the garden ground, And sheds a warm and glittering look Among the ivy's inmost nook. Above the hills, along the blue, Round the bright air with footing true, To please the child, to paint the rose, The gardener of the World, he goes. A fitting Poem for mid-summer. There is no better feeling that the warm summer sun peaking through the window, the trees, across the yard. And summer is the perfect time to take a minute to enjoy these things. I try to do something enjoyably summ...
