Weekend Musings ~ Will Walk for Bread

Back in the mountains, I love it. I forgot how lovely the summer is here, and finally the weather is gorgeous. The flowers are out and everything is green.

My musing this weekend are as simple as enjoying two of my favorite things: 

Walking

and 

Bread

It has been tough for me to let myself take the time to get a few walks in ~ yes I was too busy to get walks in and I know that is just an excuse but sometimes you just gotta take a break. From everything. 

And any more than that, I just do not want to dwell on. Also, I am not feeling too wordy today, so will just let the pictures speak for me.

At some point, we may be those paddle boarders in the river, if you look close enough they are there in that last picture. But today, this weekend actually as I walked to a bakery in the other direction yesterday ~ (TWO BAKERIES within walking distance...life could be worse) just walking and bread was perfect for me. 

Also perfect is me easing back in to photos and blogging ~ I am not so consumed with work that I am letting these things slide anymore. This is just right, for right now.

Walking on Wednesday - My Money Tree is Dead! What does that MEAN??

It's not the kind of money tree you are thinking.  I wish it was. But it is not. It is technically a Pachira . The name supposedly comes from a story of it's origin.  A poor man prayed for money, and then found this "odd" plant. He took it home as an omen, and made money from selling plants grown from it's seeds. I bought it at a grocery store when we first moved back to the states, in 2004 . We had just moved in to our own house, after being displaced from Hurricane Ivan , and our new place needed some green. This was the biggest plant, for the least amount of money , at the grocery store. It said it was ' foolproof ' , and that is the right plant for me ! I thought the name was an omen too, hoping it would bring good fortune, meaning a little money .  It decorated our living room in New York for almost 6 years ! During that time, about 2 years after I bought it, I tried to root it from clippings just for fun. It worked , and I grew another money ...

Help me name my Eggplant Pincushion for motivation

I wanted to share this adorable Eggplant Pincushion with everyone that ZigZag's Handmade This n'That made for me. I found her on Etsy.com making cute cactus pincushions and asked if she could make me an eggplant pincushion (I love purple and I love Eggplants!) I am getting ready to tackle another quilt and thought this pincushion would get me motivated and keep me company through the inevitable trials and tribulations associated with quiltmaking. As I have said in my other quilt posts ( The Quilt Story and Quilt Story 2 ), although frustrating sometimes, I love getting through all the steps and seeing my efforts evolve into my finished product. This cute little "thing" (male, female, it, don't know!) can be with me the whole way, giving me that encouraging smile and keep me going Problem is - it doesn't have a name!
