Crazy Irish Jog - Just the Thing to Get Me Out of a Rut

Image
It had been over 2 weeks since I did any real exercising. And a particularly tedious week at work. On Friday morning I was sitting on the back porch enjoying a cup of coffee looking forward to getting off work early (we get done a half hour earlier on Fridays) and coming home to relax, put the week behind me and get in to enjoying our house. Then I remembered. I had signed up for the 26th annual  St Patricks Day 5k Irish Jog. It was after work. Not enough time for me to come home to change, had to bring my gear in and change at work and go. I was bummed! The thought of having to stay in town, and then go 3.14 miles, after such a week, and when I was looking forward to just hanging out, chillin'. BUMMER. But I had committed to it. I wasn't so bummed that I would blow it off. So I packed my bag. Workout pants, shirt, socks, shoes, ponytail holder, hat, tom tom runner, headphones and hand-me-down ipod. As I was packing, the bummer feeling lifted and I realized t...

Birds on a Wire - or Can You Say Something Better About This Photo?

Image
Photo courtesy of Buttercup (my daughter) Raige Creations A photo from many weeks ago. It was a cloudy, rainy day. My daughter and I were going in to check on our booth at the antique mall . She was snapping pictures for an art class project. When we saw this, we were kinda speechless. All I could say was, 'Look at all those tiny birds on the wire!' So original. I could say that I was the one driving, and therefore could not give the attention necessary. But my daughter couldn't think of anything either.   So I leave it to you to caption, comment, say what you think. Give us a new way to look at this photo.  What is YOUR perspective on a photo like this?  Give us a new way to see it.

Inspiration - What is around that bend for you?

Image
I have always been drawn to this sort of image. The possibilites of what is around the bend on that beautiful path has always intrigued me. It is different for each of us, and it is ever changing. But it always something that makes me stop and think - dream - about what great things I can find when I walk down that lane, and get to that turn, and keep on walking.   Endless Possibilities Can you believe I am lucky enough to say this is the view I am greeted with each day? This is our driveway. So I know what actually is around this bend, but I can still look at it and dream of the possibilites we have here in our new place.  I can actually travel down this lane and turn right, walk up the hill and have a gorgeous view of mountains - for as far as you can see!  Seeing that view on a regular basis is wonderful, and makes me feel like like this next chapter of our lives is full of endless possibilities just waiting for us out there.  And we are ready to expl...

Colorblind - A Different Perspective

Image
Being a hereditary carrier of the recessive 'colorblind' genes, I have first hand experience seeing my sons growing up with being Red/Green Color Deficient, often referred to as 'colorblind'. All of us 'color-seers' could not relate to or understand why, when asked if one wanted to put on a green shirt (St. Patty's Day), he put on a tan one insisting it was green, and finally settled on saying "it's close enough". That is, unless others searched as long and hard as my husband did years ago to find a very usefull Photoshop plug-in from VISCHECK for transforming pictures into how 'colorblind' individuals see the world, and everything in it. A search engine will bring up web-site design links that allow you to transform your site (generally for a fee) as well, but the plug-in is free, can be used on any image, and has been an invaluable tool we have utilized for years. (NOTE: Photoshop plug-in hyperlink will take you to a download page ...
