Walking on Wednesday - I am hardcore! Are you?

Image
I am! I am hardcore! Ok, maybe not to the runners, marathoners, tri-athletes.  But I am hardcore - and so are you if you think about it. For me, it hit me as I was walking in the rain last week. I know I have bragged about walking in the rain before , but that was nothing compared to the rain last week. It had been raining all the night before, all morning, and there were rivers of water running down the street and large puddles everywhere. The rain wasn't a drizzle, it was steadily raining. My clothes, after walking in the rain. But I went for a walk anyways. The old me would have stayed in and missed a day of walking. But the hardcore me got my hoodie and my old walking shoes (didn't want to get my new ones wet and dirty), and headed out to get wet walking. The bottoms of my pants were so wet when I got back, I took my clothes off and left them on the steps. And I couldn't see because my glasses had drops all over them and were fogging up. ( Yes, I took the pi...

Music Monday! Unwell

Image
I'm not crazy, I'm just a little unwell. Or - am I crazy? .... sometimes I wonder about myself.... Thanks to this Matchbox Twenty song , I am starting to convince myself I may be a little bit crazy. I am not seeing things (yet) but I do talk to myself quite a bit. I try not to in public, but at the grocery store sometimes...well...I just have to discuss with myself if we really need those cookies, or ask myself 'what kind of cereal do the kids like again?' I also love shadows. Have I made friends with them? Perhaps. And I most definitely hear voices telling me I should get some sleep because tomorrow might be good for something. I don't often talk in my sleep. Hubby does that more often than me. In fact, he once told me the cat was driving, and then mumbled and mumbled so I am not sure where they were driving to. So do these things make me crazy - or not? Lately, I do feel like I am going a little bit crazy trying to get ready for The Big Love Fest , ...

Music Monday! You're My Butterfly

Image
Sugar. Baby. Well what other song could I do after a weekend of mosaic butterflies? Sexy butterflies?  That may be stretching it a bit...but this little ditty just popped in my head every time I talked about 'my' butterflies.   Hot Mamma Butterfly Here they are, unfinished ~ just need some grout, and some antennae. A hanger too, should anyone want to hang them up. Tranquil Blue Butterfly These both will be available at The Big Love Fest , May 6th, where Raige will be with Fuzzy Leaf Felting .  I hope to have several other mosaics as well to introduce the mosaic's section of Raige Creations with a 'bang' - or should it be with a 'crack'? (terrible, I know)   Work in progress - the Dragonfly The dragonfly is nearly done, only the wings left to finish now. As you can see, I have a few different ideas going on with them. I have to cut lots more glass and figure out how to get them to look right.   This week we (hubby and me) are working on some n...

Zibbet Exhibit ~ Through the Looking Glass

Image
My week has been spent with glass. All colors, all sizes. Thinking of dragonflies and butterflies, making smaller pieces of glass from bigger pieces. Digging through a box of glass, with all kinds of thoughts and visions going on in my head.  "I see nobody on the road," said Alice. "I only wish I had such eyes," the King remarked in a fretful tone. "To be able to see Nobody! And at that distance too! Why, it's as much as I can do to see real people, by this light."  ~Lewis Carrol, Through the Looking Glass What kind of things do you find when you spend the majority of time looking at and through colored glass, bigger and smaller pieces? Quite simply, you find these kinds of things ~ all found on Zibbet.com . Walking on Wednesday - The Beginning of My Mosaic Journey

Image
Boxes full of broken glass ~ Be careful what you wish for. For more years than I can remember, I have wanted to try mosaic's. I view things like dish sets, pieces of glass, and broken mugs as broken into tiny pieces waiting to be re-assembled and grouted into something beautiful.  I have even purchased entire sets of dishes at yard sales just for the purpose of breaking and then mosaic'd. Of course, we are using one of said dish sets now, and I sold the others before we moved because I really couldn't justify spending the time, effort and money moving three sets of dishes with the hope of someday doing mosaics.  I shouldn't have worried, because at our first estate sale here in NC, hubby got me an entire mess of broken glass (see photo to the left) because I was ALWAYS talking about how I wanted to do mosaics. Be careful what you wish for, right? Meet Mr. Froggy. My first mosaic. Well I am happy to say I finally got started with one of the things that has ...

Walking on Wednesday - Art in Autumn

Image
Autumn.  The time of transition from warm to cold,  the harvest time.  Last Saturday, here in Weaverville , it was time to harvest the Art.  Weaverville hosts the Art in Autumn Festival every September, and has been doing so for five years now. This year, it was a festival of over 100 juried artists and artisans, musicians throughout the day, and lots of happy, friendly people. (One vendor told me she will be back next year just because the people here are so friendly and have such a good attitude.) The Art in Autumn Featival booth, sponsored by the Weaverville Business Association I decided to volunteer to help sell the Art in Autumn merchandise and raffle tickets, proceeds going toward the festival costs.  I thought it would be a great way to meet people (moved here just a year ago and we still don't know too many people) , and experience the festival a little, as I want to apply next year.  I met some wonderful people, and some wonderful ...
