Music Monday! London Calling

Image
London Calling As often is the case, songs pop in my head by something that triggers a lyric. In this case, the charms on my newest Toekini's   ( Zibbet link )  has brought The Clash to my mind, and there this song has been ever since. London Underground, Red Telephone Box, and The Union Jack Toekini's available in both my ArtFire shop and Zibbet shop Of course, I don't know all the lyrics, just the repetitive London Calling . S o, over and over and over, this has been stuck in my head.  I have never been to London , but it is on my unofficial 'Bucket List' . (I haven't actually written anything down...so far it is just a bunch of things in my head, like, "yeah I want to do that someday...." )   And no doubt, this song will be stuck in my head when that day comes, too. Now, it is stuck in your head. Enjoy.

Collections to Keep Me Busy - Tea Time

Image
It's about that time - time to put the kettle on. Mid afternoon Tea Time.  The English have it exactly right .  There really is nothing better than mid-afternoon tea time. The whistling of the kettle, the smell of the brewing tea,  the soft warmth and relaxation it brings you. It is just what you need to get through the rest of the day. Tea Time   Curated By: RaigeCreations ArtFire.com Vintage Fashion I am going to put the kettle on.

Music Monday! Another Rock and Roll Christmas

Image
Never done more than one Christmas song a season for Music Mondays before, but for some reason this year I just can't help myself.  Even tho I have been complaining about that radio station that plays only Christmas music forever before Christmas, I just keep gravitating towards Christmas songs on Mondays. Especially now that we have decorated. These shots are ones my daughter took while we were decorating. So here is another Christmas song. Hubby said it better be a rocking Christmas song, and well this is the best I could find...probably not what he had in mind.  But it is rockin', and there is not better Christmas-y rock and roll name than Gary Glitter ! Our living room is decorated, the tree in fine shape. I got one trip to the mall in, so the shopping officially started.  The snowmen are in their place, right in the fireplace. (we do not light fires in there, don't worry) I dare say we are nearly ready for Christmas. Another Rock and Roll Chri...

Music Monday! Tubthumping - huh?

Image
Started out as a good day, turned to a really bad day then turned out okay .... so this seems like a great song for today. But what the heck is tubthumping ? Apparently, it is campaigning. To most, this is just a drinking song.  It's repetitiveness is infamous,  ranking it #12 on Rolling Stone 's Most Annoying Songs. Oh well,  great for bringing us up when we feel knocked down! A drink would go very well with with this song. HAPPY HOUR!

Music Monday! Little Lion Man

Happy Monday! For today's Music Monday , I thought I would supply a little banjo and folk rock. After all, we are in "bluegrass country" now, the hills of North Carolina.  I never heard of this band until we moved here and since then I have been listening to a large variety of music I never would have heard where we were living previously. Though maybe technically not bluegrass music , they sure can make the banjo sound good. Mumford and Sons are from England, and really hit the scene last year, with their debut album, Sigh No More , being released in the United Kingdom in October 2009, and February 2010 in the United States. They received two Grammy Award nominations, one for Best New Artist and the other for Best Rock Song (" Little Lion Man "). So here is " Little Lion Man ", the first track from their debut album, and it showcases their English folk rock genre brilliantly.

Music Monday! Handmade Christmas!

Today there is enough snow on the ground to call it covered, tho only about 1/4 inch. The kids got their first snow day however, because of the bitter cold and black ice "they" said. They were so amused to see barely any snow on the ground and have no school because of the weather. They remember our time in Western New York, when it took 2 feet of snow in 2 hours to cancel school. This is nothing compared to those snow days! So all this (little bit of) snow makes it feel a bit more like Christmastime to us.  We went downstairs to get out some decorations, and as in years past, I found some of the ornaments the kids have made to give our tree special meaning. This one is one of my favorites, a snowman in the mind of a 1st grader. (He is 12 now!) There is something about the artwork of a child that is so special, and I love that it adorns our tree every year. Every handmade gift or decoration brings a special meaning to the season, and this week I will be show...
