Music Monday ~ Double Feature! Never Tear Us Apart and Madness

Image
Writing has been difficult for me lately. The words just do not come easily, or if they do they are a jumbling mess of rambling on. And not good rambling. So to ease back in I thought a Music Monday would be a nice, easy effort. Well, turns out that wasn't as easy as I thought.  Let the rambling begin! Can you believe this is only the 2nd blog I have done in 2022? I have had lots of stress, work is ridiculously busy and there was an incident that has been quite stressful to deal with. I do hope to write more about that soon. But the words to write about that are not pleasant words, and what I have to share about that I (finally) realize is precisely why I am struggling with writing.  What happened to me made me more reserved, questioning every action I did. I realize now the effect this incident has had on me, and the effect it had on my writing.  Now that I realize what has been the cause of my writing difficulties, I can begin to work through it and get back to writing....

The Chicken Gang

As has been the common popular birthday present for me, this year again I got new running shoes. Yes, I have gone on about new running shoes before.... here .....and here ....to share just a couple.... I am doing more walking instead of running these days, as my legs keep hurting when I tried to run lately, probably from my worn out shoes. So, that is the reason this year I was absolutely thrilled with these new shoes. They hug my heels so nicely and offer some great support for my overpronation and thus will help my sketchy knees and achy legs. My awesome new shoes My double excitement that we could find these shoes on island, where I could try them on and see that they fit nicely. I won't mention the price I had to pay for this convenience, as it was my birthday and I reasoned it was okay to overpay for such wonderful convenience and totally enjoy the instant gratification of getting these shoes. No more waiting for a 'mule' to bring them down to me after ordering...

Music Monday! Rock You Like A Hurricane

Image
First, let me apologize. I am sorry for subjecting you to The Scorpions . They are far from a band I like, but after this weekend, and until Hurricane Matthew has inched it's way out of the Caribbean, hurricanes have been in the center of our daily activies. What other song could I pick?? I moved to the Caribbean back in 1993. Being from Western New York, I was not familiar with hurricane tracking. Snow storm tracking, yes, hurricanes, no. But over the years, it became a part of daily life during hurricance season. In June, we get the little newpaper insert that has a tracking map, the list of supplies you should have on hand at any given moment, and with each Tropical update you either add the new tropical depression to what is on your radar or you sit and wait until the next one.  There were many times we prepped for whatever storm might pass close by. Got the supplies, moved our 'important' things where we thought safest from wind and water, hunckered down and wat...

Walking on Wednesday ~ Roller Coasters

Image
I LOVE roller coasters.  Well, perhaps I should say I used to love roller coasters. I haven't actually been on a real one in years. I loved the excitement, the expectations of that giddy feeling in your stomach, then the thrill of the motion. A wild ride, a few minutes of actual real fun. Then the ride slows to a halt, you find you legs and step off onto solid ground and venture off to find the next bit of fun.  This was what amusement park rides normally are like for me, well except for the ones that spin in two different directions and then around and around. THOSE make me feel like if I don't get off RIGHT NOW I am going to get so sick and perhaps die. I downright panic that I can't get off, and that makes it even worse, because the ride still no doubt has several, very long drawn out minutes left. No wonder people associate life with roller coasters. We can find our timeline of life events (not to use FB lingo, but what other way is there to say it?) filled...

Walking on Wednesday ~ Snakes, Wizards and Gnomes, OH MY.

Image
Some days, the distractions are a welcome relief to the stresses that are going on in your life.  I am lucky that, if I go far enough, on my run I can have such a fantastical distraction. Let me explain..... It was a beautiful foggy morning the other day - I was actually glad it was grey and foggy, it seemed to match my mood. After my warm up hill, and run through downtown, my mood wasn't much improved. This led me to want to go just a little farther. I thought it would be the one thing that would get me through the day, that I pushed myself and succeeded.  'A little extra distance would be the only thing I could be happy about today' , I thought. The stresses were so bad I didn't know how I was going to make it through the day. But then I noticed the most unusual thing. Upon what had I come across? What the was this bursting from the ground? A snake! A very large snake. Then, what should I see, a wizard to greet me? With a wise owl no less.  And th...

Music Monday! 12 Days of Christmas

Image
Hoping to get in to the Christmas Spirit, but finding it difficult this year, I tried to listen to that radio station that plays only Christmas music from Thanksgiving to Christmas. (they started before Thanksgiving this year! UGH!) I made it through one song.   I start getting into Christmas, then get overwhelmed, sidetracked, stresses, confused.   Kind of like this song! Finding gifts for teens, and hubby, is a bigger challenge this year with our tight budget, and no one really wanting or needing anything.  What do you give then? Still searching for answers to that.  And then the in-laws will be here too. They really don't need anything, they are now living in an RV (no room for anything), and will probably get mad at us for spending our money on them - you know how parents are. So my 12 days of Christmas are feeling a lot like the muddled, all over the place, 12 Days from Straight No Chaser . Maybe getting the tree will help me focus, or at least ...

Music Monday! Money

Image
Requested due to the lovely day in the Stock Market today . If anyone has any left after today............................................................. Pink Floyd  wrote this about the bad things money can buy, but it is often misinterpreted as a tribute to money.  Ironically, this song is the only one on the album to enter the top 20 on the  Billboard  Top 100, and the album sold over 34 million copies. Bet they didn't have to worry about the disastrous market today.....unless they decided to invest their fortune from this song into the Stock Market . The optimist in me says 'what goes down must come up', a little different than Spinning Wheel , they had the flip side chorus to that.  I sorta feel that perhaps the only way to go now is up.  Let's hope so.

Music Monday! It's astounding, time is fleeting, Madness takes its toll

Image
Feels just like last Monday ; coudly, damp, cold, and raining...Monday.  Are we in a Time Warp? And so Music Mondays have been born. Remember getting all dressed up, gathering your rice, newpapers and squirt guns, hot dogs and toast, and going to the late night, double feature, picture show... Grab your coffee, sit back, click on play, hold on tight and enjoy!  And remember... It's just a jump to the left... Sing along ! It's astounding, time is fleeting Madness takes its toll But listen closely, not for very much longer I've got to keep control I remember doing the Time Warp Drinking those moments when The blackness would hit me and the void would be calling Let's do the time warp again... Let's do the time warp again! It's just a jump to the left And then a step to the right With your hands on your hips You bring your knees in tight But it's the pelvic thrust that really drives you insane, Let's do the Time Warp again! It...
