Weekend Musings ~ Will Walk for Bread

Image
Back in the mountains, I love it. I forgot how lovely the summer is here, and finally the weather is gorgeous. The flowers are out and everything is green. Wildflowers My musing this weekend are as simple as enjoying two of my favorite things:  Walking and  Bread It has been tough for me to let myself take the time to get a few walks in ~ yes I was too busy to get walks in and I know that is just an excuse but sometimes you just gotta take a break. From everything.  And any more than that, I just do not want to dwell on. Also, I am not feeling too wordy today, so will just let the pictures speak for me. The road to the RAD and the bakery nestled in the district with the bread (no beer for me)  A river crossing - it sure did look muddy today probably from the recent rains. Bread and soft pretzel - yumminess. River crossing heading home - lovely even if still muddy. At some point, we may be those paddle boarders in the river, if you look close enough they are ...

A Lizard, An Old Arnold, and A Cool Ride ~ Weekend Musings

Image
I got this idea in my head. I thought I should try to find one cool thing a day, or write what I am grateful for each day. So I started snapping pictures. Random, things I thought were cool or interesting. Because life has always got interesting things happening if we just take notice. This week, a list of random things that caught my eye. I found a lizard living in a little plastic guy we found on the side of the road. The plastic guy sustained an injury getting blown off the porch rail, but it seems to have worked out because now he is open for business as a Hotel for Lizards . See this little lizard hanging out on the 'arm porch'?  Great for taking in the scenery. Then the lizard just turns around and goes up inside the head when he ready for sleep, or hiding. Lizard Hotel We were visited by this great Old Arnold bird, what they are called here. They are in the cuckoo family of birds , and make the coolest sounds. Perhaps named after an area of the island, or ...

Simple Sundays of Chili and Chocolate

Image
Photo Courtesy of Raige Tea, those deliciously 'evil' hazelnut and chocolate sticks, and the chili stirring spoon makes for a lovely Sunday. It means all the chores were done by the time football starts. The laundry folded and put away, the dinner prepped (just stirring intermittenly throughout the afternoon), showered and in Sunday comfy clothes.  You might not understand the big deal of the Pirouline's  . These, once upon a time way back when we were a younger family who was content with enough to be able to treat ourselves with yummy treats and the time for tea, were our favorite. A very fancy to us, decadent treat we allowed ourselves when times were good financially. When we took the time to enjoy tea, sweets, and each other.  We then hit tougher times, busier times. We were working harder, for less rewards. We cut back, we skimped, we scraped by. No chocolate hazelnut goodness. No tea time.  Years went by living under these circumstances. We accepted...

Thursday Thought of the Day ~ Success, Impossible, and Things Are Just Things

Image
I have SO many thoughts going through my head these days! {it is even interrupting my sleep, which is not really common for me usually, but this week it is !} It was hard to pick just one Thought of the Day, I have more than one huge thought plaguing me on a regular basis these days. I am currently going through my year end reports for the taxes, and am realizing what a tough year it has been. Change after change after change. When one thing wasn't working, I tried another, and then another. source: behappy.me As disappointing is was to see on paper just how difficult the year has been, at least I gave it my all and kept trying.  Plus, I have been confronted with a coming year full of other big changes.  A new chapter, I like to think.  {Someday, I  will  write a book, and there  really will  be chapters.} But these changes are daunting , kind of scary, and are making us examine the past 10 years of our lives. At times, it doesn't seem ...

Music Monday! Mountain Sound

Image
A perfect song for a run in the mountains.  I think this band, Of Monsters and Men , is now added to the  'I really, really like this band'  list. Thier poetic and fantastical lyrics and the good beats and the pretty music all blend together in a way that pleasantly gets stuck in your head. source and to purchase The sun is shining brilliantly today, and the air not too crisp. A good day for not many words.  Hold your horses now (Sleep until the sun goes down) Through the woods we ran (Deep into the mountain sound) Enjoy the day, and the Mountain Sounds .
