Music Monday! How Bizarre....

Image
Sitting in the living room yesterday morning we heard loud thumping upstairs. It sounded like a large animal jumped down off of something and the ran full speed across the room. Several times. All I could do was giggle a little, knowing it was our small, barely 18 pound mutt of a cat doing the things crazy cats do: run across the room for no apparent reason at high speeds. The strange thing is, there is no furniture left upstairs. So what did she jump off of? There are boxes, but most are low to the ground so the big thump had me stumped. The only tall box is the one our large screen tv came in. The tv is gone now, but for some reason we still have the box, and it is over 3ft tall. I doubted she would jump up that high, plus the sound came from the other side of the room. Was she on the windowsill? Source xbox music These sounds continued for about 5 minutes. Back and forth, thump, thump, then the clomp clomp down the stairs. I just thought is was funny, and even strange in...

The Orange Soda Birdhouse ~ Yes, I Am Not Afraid of Random Creativity

Image
Sounds ridiculously fun, no? Well, my bird thinks it is! Orange Soda Bird House source: Raige Creations She crawled in the soda box at the opening at the top, slid down, then stuck her head out the handle. I thought she might be stuck in there, but no, she was just having fun! Dangling Boxes - Joy for the Birds source: Raige Creations Ever since I got lost on the internet that one day, and found I could MAKE bird toys, I have actually  been  making my own bird toys. It started with the register paper rolls. I used up the ones I had, even bought more and used those up.  Then I discovered I could use boxes and tee shirts. I got lots of ideas from here , and have since found this Pinterest board . I now recycle in a completely different, and fun, way. My mini recycling center source: Raige Creations I hoard boxes, paper towel cardboard rolls, toilet paper rolls, tee shirts, anything I think I can use. The area by the bird cages looks like a messy r...

Friday Find ~ The Hawk and the Squirrel

Image
Sounds like the title of a story, and very well could be. But today, it is simply the caption of the photo I found the while going through my computer pictures. It was taken from far away, as Red Tailed Hawks are rather skittish around us humans. I honestly didn't even notice the squirrel when I was taking the picture.  The Hawk and the Squirrel This photo was taken right in our yard, this view is from the kitchen window.  I often get lost on pictures. I enjoy reminiscing, I wonder why the time goes by so fast when I see pictures of the kids past birthdays, and wonder WHY I took some pictures..... I am not sure why I took this picture.....  and then  congratulate myself on some great shots!  The Praying Mantis in a Jar 1. (great shot 1) The Praying Mantis in a Jar 2. (great shot 2) I should have been working, updating spreadsheets, but instead I got lost on photos. It is a nice vacation from the present sometimes. It is a nice thought of t...

Music Monday! Shock the Monkey - no shock the CAT!

Image
Today was 'Give the Cat a Hair Cut Day' here. No, her name isn't monkey, nor does she look like one, but SHOCKED you could say she was. The 'Before'. She knew what was coming, and kept trying to hide. As you can tell, this isn't the best hiding spot, so we got her. But she didn't like it one bit.  The sound of an unhappy cat is disturbing...and I just couldn't get Shock the Monkey out of my head.  Even though it is not about animal rights , but about jealousy, the lyrics 'don't you know you got to Shock the Monkey' seemed to fit. I can think of many other situations this song pops in my head too...just one of those songs! Enjoy. Now for the 'After'. She  still  looks mad, and I interrupted her bathing herself. I know, not the best haircut. But her hair was long, and hair clippers do not like fine long cat hair. And YOU Try to run noisy clippers near her 'lion mane'. I have a scratch or two trying that.  One quarter ...

Zibbet Exhibit ~ Through the Looking Glass

Image
My week has been spent with glass. All colors, all sizes. Thinking of dragonflies and butterflies, making smaller pieces of glass from bigger pieces. Digging through a box of glass, with all kinds of thoughts and visions going on in my head.  "I see nobody on the road," said Alice. "I only wish I had such eyes," the King remarked in a fretful tone. "To be able to see Nobody! And at that distance too! Why, it's as much as I can do to see real people, by this light."  ~Lewis Carrol, Through the Looking Glass What kind of things do you find when you spend the majority of time looking at and through colored glass, bigger and smaller pieces? Quite simply, you find these kinds of things ~ all found on Zibbet.com . I am Pooped. So please let me complain.

I had a great post nearly ready for today.  I DID! I thought of it late, to be sure, but got the idea, took photos and everything. Then, had to run son to work, pick up a fixed old computer from the Geeks , drop daughter off at friends, fold laundry, replant a plant (part of planned blog), get dog beds from the line outside (thank goodness they are dry). This is after cleaning kitchen, bathing dog, spraying flea medicine on her (instant itchy nose), shaved the cat best I could with hair clippers (she has long hair and also needed flea spray, and I WASN'T gonna try to get that spray through all that hair! and she absolutely HATES water to a water bath is completely out, I do  not feel like having cat claws stuck in my arm, thank you very much!), then sprayed the cat with flea stuff, cleaned the floor where cat was shaved (want to cut nose off my face now it itches to bad!!), then showered. Oh, and insert 'did lots of laundry' in there somewhere.  So after...
