Walking on Wednesday - Time for Some Cocktails

Image
While on my walk today, the air had the crisp fall feeling, the smell of the last of the leaves on the ground. The sun has already positioned itself in its winter position of further south, so it changes the way it comes through the windows of the house.  The whole feeling of fall, which means the whole feeling of the holidays . They are right around the corner! During the holidays, many host large family gatherings, and most at least attend some sort of  family gathering.  And if any of you have family like I do, the bar is open from the time the first guests arrive . But who can remember all those fancy drink recipes? Not me! But my Dad could whip up a Martini like he was professional bartender, while my Mom was in the kitchen cooking, with her favorite drink, the Daiquiri , already in hand.  When the guests arrived, I could never keep up with all the different drink names, and bottles were just being tossed around like a juggler was hired for our ente...

Music Monday! Come Back When You Can

Image
Jellyfish hold a special place in the hearts of the crew that now makes up Raige Creations .  We call the Caribbean our home still, even though we have been away from it for several years, and the jellyfish we encountered there were always fascinating.  The crew is made up of: me, now usually known as Raige ; Hubby usually known as Paul who is endlessly creative; the kids who always have input and help out with nearly everything Raige; and hubby's mother Bridget who is a fabulous jewelry creator showcasing her creations with Raige Creations .  We the crew, well most of the crew, spent the last few days creating a website to fully showcase all of our talents, collections, and creations. Jellyfish are the  unsurprising  backdrop to everything on the site. And w hat better way to introduce the site , on a Music Monday , than to showcase real, free swimming, floating jellies? Raige Creations is becoming a great mix of items, ideas, and creative ventures. A ...

Spectacular Fog

After a more or less successful NaBLoWriMo , where I posted 29 out of 31 days of the month in October, I found this week I had a VERY difficult time getting a post done! Not for lack of trying. At this point I have 5 posts started, none 'feeling right'. View from the top of the hill on our street. I wanted to challenge myself to post every day in November too, but "the writer Raige" apparently needed a little vacation. Missed Walking on Wednesday and the rest of the week ! During this "vacation" however, Raige was working very hard on creating her own website . T his weekend is our set deadline for taking the website live. And I thought, or rather justified to myself, that it would be okay to not post a blog because I was about to take an entire website live. I was getting pretty stressed about my neglect of this blog, but tried to make myself feel better by saying a much bigger thing was about to be shared.  Sound like BS, doesn't it?  We can j...

More Gift Card Holders - Only 53 days until Christmas!

Image
53 days until Christmas .  Only  49 days until Hanukkah , and just  51 until Kwanzaa.  That still may seem like a lot. Or it may seem like not enough time ! Depending on how you shop for the holidays, it is either plenty of time or not near enough . What is a great way to get a gift, a quick gift , a gift for someone you don't quite know what to get?  A GIFT CARD, or MONEY . What is a wonderful, personal, and thoughtful way to present a gift that is often considered impersonal, and not very thoughtful ? Gift Card Holder made with Two Bucks Cash by The Purple Rat A very unique, handmade gift card holder. Like the one above, by The Purple Rat . Using money for money. Brilliant ! Judy, from Portable Graffiti , presented us Zibbeters a challenge back in the beginning of October to create wonderful, creative, and thoughtful gift card holders that she could feature in the Fantastic Five for all of us ....er those... last minute shoppers .  I ...

Music Monday! This is Halloween

Image
Boys and Girls of every age Wouldn't you like to see something strange? Poor Jack Skellington  and his obsession with Christmas . There IS something about the holiday season that most of us can't resist too. Remember MY recent obsession with Christmas and Mini Stockings ??? But today, it is about Halloween .  Pumpkins, Trick-or-treating,  spookiness and skeletons . 'Bones' modeling some Halloween Toekini's . One of my 3 Halloween decorations. Enjoy the roasted pumpkin seeds and candy, and the  ghosts and ghouls . Glow in the Dark Ghost Toekini's , glowing. And trick-or-treat some for me. My kids are too old now to be interested in that. Plus our driveway is too long and spooky for us to be getting any trick-or-treaters. So it will most likely be a normal night for us.  I am thinking Spaghetti for dinner....um I mean Worms and Blood ....with garlic bread. How does that sound?? That is about as scary as things will be around here.  Wha...

Mini Stockings - and other GREAT gift card holders.

Image
A Zibbet Community thread was started at the beginning of October, called Easy Challenge For the Fantastic Five .  A call for a challenge always intrigues me, and apparently other too. I wandered over and saw that Judy, of Portable Graffiti Graphics and the author of The Fantastic Five , was asking us to come up with handmade gift card holders  to showcase for last minute shoppers in December. This thread has sparked the imagination of many Zibbeters, and had me thinking all month about an idea for a gift card holder.  Finally , Friday morning had me try out a pattern I found for a tiny Christmas Stocking. I needed to make SOME kind of Christmas things for the local gift shop, so I tried it out. After it was done, I realized it fit my business card perfectly so I popped it in there for the photo shoot. As I was taking pictures of it, I thought DUH me, the gift card holder for the challenge ! Mini Stocking Gift Card Holder OR Tree Ornament Small Gift...
