We thought it was Spring. But no. Even though the calendar says Spring, Mother Nature has other plans. I heard this song on one of my walk/runs (got 3 in last week, this week so far, a big fat none...but the week is still young....) and it was a good pace to walk to, a little slow for running for me. Still, kept me going. And yes, I was wearing a sweater (well, sweatshirt) And Yes, the forecast has SNOW in it this evening! Dangit. But, hopefully, it won't be long until we can put our sweaters away.  And for me, maybe put away for good! I will be dreaming of no more cold winters......and a Spring that really is Spring when the calendar says so......and walking and running in shorts and a tee! Can't wait. Tuesday, I woke up yesterday, a much needed day off, and got the kids off to school, sat down to check what was going on online, and promptly dozed right off. The phone rang, mostly woke me up, but I soon dozed off again. Most of the morning went this way, in and out of sleep, plenty lazy. On a day off, you can allow yourself to be foggy, doze off. No pressing issues, just some quiet time, relaxing time. Perfect for a day off. (Apparently I needed the sleep too. Perhaps I have not been sleeping as good as I thought I was....) Crow on a Branch in the Fog Yesterday, it was foggy. A real thick, dark, grey, scary movie kind of fog.  Something about it, and the schedule I wanted to keep, made me want to put on my new walking shoes and get out there in the fog.  I know I talked about fog before, a few times. Each time I talk about it, I realize I am in a different frame of mind. Either in a fog myself , or  happy to greet the fog , sometimes it's  spectacular fog  or the  challenges becoming clear in the fog .  Foggy Hill   Yesterday, I had a completely different reaction to the fog.  A scary movie walk kind of fog which in my mind was set to be FUN FOG.  I realized how important attitude can be. On most other days, I would look out at the fog, ponder its wonderful wet beauty, and say to myself - ' No walk right now' . Yesterday, all I could think was - 'Hey, that would be a cool walk !' Today, after 2 weeks of not going for my walk, I decided it may be a good idea to note all the reasons , i.e. excuses, I have not been for a walk in so long.  I started this series in the hopes of having it motivate me to walk, to keep with my goal of losing another 5 or so pounds, and to get in shape.  Lady J is always ready for a walk. It started out good, I grabbed the leash and the dog and I set out. Sometimes I was lucky enough to have my daughter with me, but often I just ventured out on my own, well me and the dog. But for the last couple weeks, I have not been for a walk. And all day today, I just couldn't bring myself to get out the door. Why ? What is stopping me? Well, not surprisingly I have a bunch of different reasons that are ultimately excuses. Great song suggested by hubby. Everlast and What It's Like He thought in light of all the tornado's  and terrible weather here in NC  we should take a minute, or 4  (this song is just over 4 minutes)  and think about those who were affected. We were lucky , this time.  Our basement had a little water seeping in and some of our collectibles got soaked, and some ruined .  We have been less lucky in the past,  with our experience of a Cat.5 hurricane .  So every time bad weather rears its ugly head,  we take a moment and think about  how thankful we are that we only lost  our house and some material items.  We all got through safe and sound ,  and besides the photos and  some other memorabilia  we could not replace,  we only lost 'stuff' .  Not our loved ones.
