Music Monday! Learning To Fly

Image
The commute. Some days it just wears you down. The stop, then go, then slam on brakes because the guy in the next lane suddenly has to be in your lane, right in front of you. The longing looks at the lane next to you who seems to be going by rather fast, maybe 10 miles and hour, while your lane is going so slow the speed does not register. And the realization you cannot sneak in front of one of those cars zooming by you in the next lane because your car is so long, it won't fit snugly in the space that exists before the next car moves up. You would need to get the drivers attention and make sure they stop to let you in, which doesn't make you an appreciated driver. And with one of the only 2 on the island like it, your car is memorable. No need to make enemies on the road.  The stress of the drive just beats you down some days. Then when you finally reach your destination, and dread the parking. Where I am, the parking sucks. No other way to explain it. Spaces too smal...

Blue Skies and Potential

Image
It was a day that started with loads of potential.  source   Blue skies. Beauty. And things to do. source  Potential. source Sadly, my effort failed me late in the afternoon, and the day ended rather meh. This great reminder helped me get out of bed yesterday. A wonderful quote from my hubby, knowing I was grumpy and overwhelmed with life, as has been the Modus Operandi these days.  I was having a difficult time finding the motivation to get up and start yet another day of stress, worry, uncertainty, and  chores. Who wants to get out of bed for that? But he wisely reminded me we have a goal, we have something to look forward to. And we are one day closer to getting there. Some days, he knows just the right thing to say.

Friday Find ~ Views from the Road

Image
Technically, these finds are from yesterday, but since we got home so late, it is today's Friday Find. Usually interstate driving isn't very interesting. Just miles and miles of road, each interstate looking much like another you have most certainly been on for hours and hours. I find my eyes get tired of looking at the land, which starts to look like everywhere else you have been. So, I happened to notice the sky. The sky, so big, so vast.  I think I also noticed the sky more because everything around us was flat . When you live in the North Carolina mountains, and have to drive East to the other side of the state, you notice how flat the rest of the state is. I am so used to the mountains, when not in them, everything is so...well...flat. And I noticed that over this flat land there is a huge sky, full of beautiful colors and clouds. Especially when the sun is setting, and the whole word is this brilliant cool blue dusk. It could have been the 8 hours on the r...
