Weekend Musings ~ First Batch

Image
I had procrastinated enough. I had filled our freezer full of cut mangos. There is little room for anything else. I had not settled down to make jam until the other day.  I had finally found the mood to get down to making some jam. It was an order, actually, that brought the mood on. Well, it was more a mood of "I HAVE TO make some jam". I was asked for 3 jars, please, by Sunday.  Thank you to my previous customer who placed the order, you have lifted me out of my anti-jam making funk. Voila, my first batch of mango jam. First Batch Mango Jam 2020 This batch, I am told, is better than last year. Hubby was the taster - compared the very last bit in the very last jar I have from last year with a taste of the slight overage of this first batch. His conclusion was that this year's batch was better than last year's.  It has a great flavor and set very nicely.  So I am not sure really if I tweaked the recipe differently, I may have been a  bit more heavy handed i...

Wow, Where Did December Go? Wait....It's March Now!

Image
I first started this in January, asking ' And now almost half of January? ' But now it is MARCH! Time sure does fly. And I try to write, and am plagued by ' Where do I even start? ' Then I start, and never quite finish. So, time flies but have I been having fun? A bit, yes. That and a bit of a piled on work load at the 9-5. Work load over full, the lead up to the holidays flew by, and suddenly our house was full. Kids were home from College and they got me to play a bit. I even miraculously got some time off from work! And I even managed to get the whole family up before sunrise Christmas Day to watch the sunrise together. Best present ever! Christmas Day 2016 Sunrise via  Raige Creations But suddenly the holidays were over, and I was back to work and they were back to school. The house was again so quiet. In January, I though maybe, just maybe I can get back to more writing and creating. I tried to make it higher on my priorities this year. (Not th...

Cleaning Out the Filing Cabinet...In This Weather?

Image
Yup, I am cold.  But, I haven't been outside, but I have been in the basement to store some old files.  Old files that we are not supposed to throw away for at least seven years, but now have filled up my filing cabinet so that I don't have room for the new stuff.  It is the first attempt I have made to take care of year end stuff. Mainly, I am trying to get motivated to compile everything needed for the dreaded taxes. But so far, cleaning out the filing cabinet is as far as I have gotten. And since under the basement stairs is a good place to store such piles of papers, I was under there digging out my bin of papers. The floor was cold, the basement cold, and my bin was jam packed. This lead to searching for a file box, which incidentally was full of stuff that wasn't files.  So, I had to empty it, find places for that junk, and then put the new old files in the file box. I was down there for quite a while, in only my fuzzy socks , leggings, and a sweatsh...

Procrastination or Checking Off the To-Do List?

Image
Which do you tend to do? Me? Well, if you read this blog at all, you will be able to guess. I would say I tend to do BOTH, but I do tend to procrastinate in getting things crossed off the list.  If you aren't sure what I am talking about, you may want to click here for how I am always running late , click  here for the times I am losing track of the days , and click  here for what to do if you waste an entire morning (I have done that a few times you see.....). Specifically, procrastination is something that plagues me regularly. I do tend to complain about it, too. If you need proof, click here for one complaint in October , and I actually did two posts in November, here for blaming writer's block , and here for vowing to give up this talent of procrastination I seem to possess.  It's not that I don't try! I DO have lists , plans, I have good intentions!  In fact, just this week, I made a list, and planned what day I would...

Enough Procrastination ~ And Clutter!!

Image
source: alainn bella Well, hopefully I can get through more of my list, but as you know, procrastination is one of my talents . This Tuesday, I hope to clear off our dining room sideboard. It is an antique, beautiful, and perfect for collecting clutter. I am hoping to sell it off, with the dining set, and simplify our lives a little more.  No big, heavy and difficult to move, clutter inducing furniture. It is a never ending battle we have against clutter. Every few years I get the itch to get rid of a huge amount of things, and this year it is hitting me strong.  So today, I hope to continue the purging. I have already purged some of our Christmas decorations, de-cluttered my dresser and nightstand (also clutter magnets), filed and got rid of old papers that piled up in another room, and finally have the kitchen pared down a bit.  My Sideboard Clutter Magnet photo: Raige Creations Now on to dining room and sideboard clutter! I know it doesn't look look T...

Thursday Thought of the Day ~ If You Could Change One Thing About Yourself ~ NaBloPoMo prompt

Image
NaBloPoMo Prompt . If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? This prompt had me really stuck.  You see, I find quotes about things I want to remind myself, but to change myself? Aren't I perfect the way I am? source I started working on this prompt Tuesday. I know there are things I would change. The difficult question was ~ did you want to hear about my weight or body parts I wish were different? I am sure the answer to that is NO. And truthfully, I really can't change those things, and finally after 4 decades, I am actually pretty OK with how I look now. (except for the grey, and I DO change that every 4-6 weeks) Tuesday came and went. Didn't write this post. source Wednesday came. Okay NOW I was going to finish this post. After all, this was the prompt for Nov. 6th. Wednesday was Nov. 6th! Right on schedule. I sat most of the day trying to figure out what I would change.  Oh, I would change the money situation, but wouldn...

Walking on Wednesday ~ Writers Block or Procrastination?

Image
Day 2 of NaBloWriMo , and already I am already a day late.  I could blame  Writers Block before, but that itself could be a great  post . But this week, nuthin. Nada. Or it could be I procrastinated writing all day yesterday..... Later, I will be sure to catch up. I will write brilliantly....later.
