Music Monday! The Man in Me

Image
It is never a bad way to end the weekend, watching The Big Lebowski . That we did, for the I don't know how many-eth time. We have seen it a lot. (Plus a little Monty Python , always a good time for that really.) But now back to work from my completely do nothing vacation, well staycation really. Honestly, I did a little more than nothing, but not much. I hardly cooked, didn't go anywhere but the grocery store, did minimal laundry (that still needs to be folded). I sat on the couch most of the time. I successfully lounged and read several kindle fun books. So this is a nice way to ease in to tackeling my work emails, a nice tune from Bob Dylan . (website here if you want to get lost in Bob ) Besides hubby requested it, and it is kinda nice to hear him sing along, even if he is immitating Bob, he is a bit better than Bob. But, if I have to play it again, and read him the lyrics, having heard him say one too many times 'What is that he said there?' , I may ...

Music Monday! The Ocean

Image
I asked for suggestions, and a great cousin of hubby's said she was listening to  Led Zeppelin  yesterday. This request led to an evening of the band for me and hubby last night, and nearly all day streaming the band at work, until I found one that spoke to me, that fit. This one does, more or less . But seriously, so many good songs to choose from. So many! So many that brought back memories of my brother . He was the one who first introduced me to this band. Through his closed bedroom door. He was a musician, a true connoisseur of good rock music. So many hubby had stories about. He knows stories of the band members, and he introduced me to The Song Remains The Same movie . If you have a couple hours, check it out! It is worth it, I believe. The concert was at Madison Square Gardens, this video a part of it. They put on a great show, excellent musicians. And, story from hubby, Robert Plant didn't even realize he was rubbing his fingers through most of the concer...

CRAP! I Missed A Day!!

Image
Oh, the horror.  Oh, the disappointment. I missed a day of NaBloPoMo.  A NaBloPoMo FAIL! Oh The HORROR  by  hybristophilia666  on  Polyvore It's not like I didn't know it was going to happen. I did. I had a very busy day and after dinner last night I just wanted to relax. I sat on the couch, Kindle in hand  new book waiting, full belly, family all around chillin', and said "Oh CRAP, I didn't post a blog today!" Then, I turned on my Kindle while hubby found a movie for us to watch (I can read and watch a movie at the same time. Multitasking...you Mom's know what I mean), I settled in on the couch, and the thought of blogging evaporated. It's not that I am short of ideas! I have 4 drafts going, and I even have handwritten in my journal ideas for other posts. If NaBloPoMo  right after NaBloWriMo  has done anything for me, it has got me to write every day, whether I actually post or not.  But last night, I just couldn't...

Music Monday! Two for Tuesday ~ Born Slippy with a Lust For Life

Image
Yesterday I just couldn't find a song I related to. Well, I did while running, but couldn't remember what those songs were by the time I was done. So instead I randomly searched for inspiration. I spent a long time looking for a song. Somehow, Born Slippy got on my 'suggestions'. I forgot how much I liked this song! And wouldn't this be great for a running playlist? YES! I just hope I am not on my way to a new tension headache..... Why Born Slippy ? The title of the song comes from a greyhound the band bet on and won . Then the 'suggested list' showed Iggy Pop , Lust For Life . (If you hadn't noticed the Trainspotting theme, yes these are on the soundtrack . Great movie !)  Well, that's like hypnotizing chickens.  ( My new favorite lyric.) Nothing is better than Iggy's endless energy, never a shirt, dancing around like a crazy person. I might add this to my running playlist too..... If these songs don't get your day going,...

Walking on Wednesday ~ Don't Panic

Image
In an effort to relax in the evenings, I have taken up reading again. I feel the need to escape into other worlds at the end of these long, stressful days. Sadly, I have misplaced my Kindle, much to the upset of hubby and family, who helped me try to find it last week. (Instead we found the largest hairball under the couch, and I found a pile of clothes on my closet floor, all of these things a whole other story.)   I really have no idea where it is, which is very upsetting first of all because it is an expensive thing to forget where you put it. Second, I really want to get some new books, for free as we are on such a strict budget, and I need a break from the stress.  But I really can't think of where it is!!!   So, I was handed The Ultimate Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy by my oldest, who says I will like it even though I have seen the movie . So far, I do like it, when I manage to stay awake long enough to get through more than one chapter.  Particularl...

Music Monday! Feed My Head

Image
When I asked hubby this morning what song was stuck in his head, because my head was uncharacteristically void of any music, he said "Feed My Head is stuck in my head" .  And that led to this song firmly implanted in MY head. (after I giggled because it sounded so funny!) How did it get in his head? Well, the kids found the movie SuckerPunch  on cable. ( dvd movie website ) Though it was criticized a bit harshly , the music and visual effects were enough to make us watch it not just once this past weekend, but twice. (daughter didn't see the whole thing the first time.....so we watched it again). This is one of the songs that fit right into the theme and feel of the movie, and being a good song to begin with, it gets in your head, and just sits there, quite pleasantly .   As it replayed in my head all morning, it came to me that I particularly enjoyed this weekend in part because I found the creative challenge I needed to get back to my yarns and beads, and get...
