Music Monday! Morning Has Broken

Image
This song brings back memories of Easter and church for me. It was played many Easters at our church when I was growing up. My father was the organ player, and I loved to hear him play this in practice at home, and then again at church. When I heard it playing Cat Sevens version on the radio, I loved it. A church song playing on the radio - how cool. I was then, and still am, a Cat Stevens fan . I was a kid then, I thought AM radio was cool. I still do actually - it WAS cool back in the 70's. Whatever it takes to bring the idea to the masses that we should give thanks. It was said by the editor of the hymnal it was first published in (In 1931) that:  " there was need for a hymn to give thanks for each day ." There IS a need to give thanks each day. A habit I have been trying to keep up with. So give thanks, even though it is Monday. Give thanks that we have..... beautiful music , sunshine , rainfall , wind , chocolate (I am sure you all have...

Thursday Thought of the Day ~ Your Mind Will Quit......

Image
from Pinterest via http://paleoaholic.com/ My mind was the one that had the bright idea to try the early morning Cross Fit class. I knew I had to do it, get back to seriously exercising, but I was afraid. I had not been to Cross Fit since the end of May. Two WHOLE MONTHS. Plus, I did very little in the way of any other exercise. I stopped getting up early for run/walks. I hardly walked on the beach. Swim? Nope. Kayak? Once. Eat? Hell yeah! I ate. I ate pizza, fried fish with French fries (yumm), and more pizza, had cookies, pies, ice cream. I even broke down and had a Wendy's burger with French fries (yummm). (I LOVE French fries) Ugh. By yesterday, after polishing off half a pie in 2 days, I was downright feeling fat, disgusted with myself. Now, I DID enjoy everything I ate. I made sure to. I knew all along it would catch up with me. And yesterday it did. I felt like I was rolling down the hallways at work, sloshing around the house. When I sat I felt like Jabb...

Favorite Hour of the Day ~ NaBloPoMo prompt

Image
My favorite hour of the day............. There is the early morning, if I happen to be able to get out of bed, just while it's getting light. The birds are just starting to make noise, the sky is a beautiful hue, and there is so much possibility. I make coffee, do the morning routine until it is finished brewing, and then sit and ponder what the day has in store. source Or else it's Tea Time. I love tea in the afternoon, if I am not too tired by then to put the kettle on. It is a time to re-group and relax a bit. Sometimes it is just the right thing to get me motivated to cook dinner. source: Raige Creations Sometimes, my favorite time of day is when I wake up in the middle of the night, glance at the clock and see it's only 2am! I still have 4 hours to stay in bed, in the quiet darkness, no chores to hop up and get started, no thoughts of the stresses ahead.  from Random Betrayals on tumbler.com Quiet darkness, cozy covers, time to dream some more. Thursday Thought of the Day ~ Don't Think Too Much

Image
I stood there, contemplating. It had just started snowing.  I thought, 'Do I really want to go run in the snow today?' It suddenly hit me - if I stood there any longer,  I would talk myself right out of running.  So without further thought, I went. And it was a good run. Don't think about it. Just go do it.

Music Monday! Clouds In My Coffee

Image
These words were mumbled one morning over coffee by hubby. Once you hear these words, Clouds in my Coffee , well you just can't get them out of your head.  They are in your head, of course, in music, followed by You're So Vain, you probably think this song is about you......   What does it all mean??   "Clouds in my coffee" are the confusing aspects of life and love. That which you can't see through, and yet seems alluring...until. Like a mirage that turns into a dry patch. Perhaps there is something in the bottom of the coffee cup that you could read if you could (like tea leaves or coffee grinds). ~~Carly Simon 5/17/01   So here you go - perfect for a Monday actually. We are all cloudy on Mondays, right? If reading the words don't get it stuck, and the song on top still doesn't get it stuck right in your head, enjoy this collection of clouds, coffee, and creamy cloudy goodness.
