Lazy Sunday and Dreams

Image
Wow. I haven't really had a lazy weekend like this one in ages. The weather took a turn, and we have had stormy and chilly weather. Not like the East Cost of the US chilly, but darn chilly for a tropical island. And it has really sapped the motivation. You would think I would be all - "It is perfect wogging weather! I am so getting out there to wog!!"  But nope. Nothing. I glance at the shoes, that is it. I guess it is good to just be lazy some weekends. And when it is rainy and gray and cool, it is quite nice to stay cuddled up on the couch under a blanket.  I even relaxed enough to have this dream, a dream that I remember, and had a content hopeful feeling to it!  It was a running dream. I have them somtimes, particularly when I haven't been running or wogging. So the dream goes: I go for a run. And I am running down some street or up some hill, breathing  heavy and everything. Feels Like I am really running, except I always feel great and fast in my drea...

Friday Find ~ I Found My Head in the Clouds and I Found Clarity

Image
Sometimes the clouds give us peace and clarity.  A cloud happened to pass right through us while we were at the summit of Craggy Pinnacle the other day . The quiet peace at the top of a mountain with the clouds all around is a moment where I found peace, and clarity.  You are quite encased, enclosed, just you and your head. The other clutter is not there, you are free to find out where you really are, and where you really want to be. It is often a moment that passes far too fast.  Don't ever worry of being accused of having your head in the clouds - it is an experience we all should enjoy as much as possible.  After all, Thoreau was onto something. The atmosphere below the clouds is not always paradise ~ the clouds can offer us insight we can achieve no other way.  Have you ever enjoyed your head in the clouds?

Friday Find ~ Views from the Road

Image
Technically, these finds are from yesterday, but since we got home so late, it is today's Friday Find. Usually interstate driving isn't very interesting. Just miles and miles of road, each interstate looking much like another you have most certainly been on for hours and hours. I find my eyes get tired of looking at the land, which starts to look like everywhere else you have been. So, I happened to notice the sky. The sky, so big, so vast.  I think I also noticed the sky more because everything around us was flat . When you live in the North Carolina mountains, and have to drive East to the other side of the state, you notice how flat the rest of the state is. I am so used to the mountains, when not in them, everything is so...well...flat. And I noticed that over this flat land there is a huge sky, full of beautiful colors and clouds. Especially when the sun is setting, and the whole word is this brilliant cool blue dusk. It could have been the 8 hours on the r...

Sunshine. 'Nuff Said

Image
That is it. Sometimes, just sunshine is enough to make the day great. Add to that 3 days of 2 + miles each day now, and life is pretty good. I thank the return of sunshine for this. Sunshine makes it glow! Yes, simply the sun. Even tho it's January, and the cold has set in, the sun was enough. I don't mind the cold, as long as the sun is out. Seeing what it did to this sculpture, I knew the sun has a profound affect on everyone.  I see people milling about downtown, find that visitors are in fact in Asheville enjoying the mountains in the winter.  They come out when the sun does, walk slower, look around more, bask in the sun basically. Ominous in the grey rain. The sun brings brilliant light, uplifts the mood, and gives a nice golden glow to things we see every day and have blended in with the background.  It had rained for 4 days straight, almost non stop. I gladly took 2 of those days to enjoy the cloudy greyness, but by the 4th day I was more than ready...

Walking on Wednesday - Scary Movie Walk and FUN FOG

Image
Crow on a Branch in the Fog Yesterday, it was foggy. A real thick, dark, grey, scary movie kind of fog.  Something about it, and the schedule I wanted to keep, made me want to put on my new walking shoes and get out there in the fog.  I know I talked about fog before, a few times. Each time I talk about it, I realize I am in a different frame of mind. Either in a fog myself , or  happy to greet the fog , sometimes it's  spectacular fog  or the  challenges becoming clear in the fog .  Foggy Hill   Yesterday, I had a completely different reaction to the fog.  A scary movie walk kind of fog which in my mind was set to be FUN FOG.  I realized how important attitude can be. On most other days, I would look out at the fog, ponder its wonderful wet beauty, and say to myself - ' No walk right now' . Yesterday, all I could think was - 'Hey, that would be a cool walk !' Tiny Spiderweb in the Bush With the 'scary movie walk' ...

Walking on Wednesday - Walking in the Rain ~ What a Glorious Feeling

Image
Gene Kelly was right - what a glorious feeling! I did it. I walked in the rain. Normally, when rain clouds are around, I stay in. I have balked at walking in the rain many a day.  But today, I did it . The forecast calls for thunderstorms all day. We woke to gray skies and dark, imminent rain clouds. In fact, when I dropped the kids off to school (they missed the bus) there were tiny little raindrops on the windshield of my car.  But when I got home, I decided I really needed to walk today. I hope to accomplish a whole bunch today, and if I didn't get my walk in, the whole plan would be shot. --I do not deal well with shattered plans, just ask hubby.-- A half hour after I got home, I still hadn't got out the door. Normally this would set me off into a panicked frustrated rush . Today, I decided that it was was okay . Now is just as good as a half hour ago.  No matter that the sidewalk showed signs of raindrops.  I would just get wet today. Off ...

Music Monday! Clouds In My Coffee

Image
These words were mumbled one morning over coffee by hubby. Once you hear these words, Clouds in my Coffee , well you just can't get them out of your head.  They are in your head, of course, in music, followed by You're So Vain, you probably think this song is about you......   What does it all mean??   "Clouds in my coffee" are the confusing aspects of life and love. That which you can't see through, and yet seems alluring...until. Like a mirage that turns into a dry patch. Perhaps there is something in the bottom of the coffee cup that you could read if you could (like tea leaves or coffee grinds). ~~Carly Simon 5/17/01   So here you go - perfect for a Monday actually. We are all cloudy on Mondays, right? If reading the words don't get it stuck, and the song on top still doesn't get it stuck right in your head, enjoy this collection of clouds, coffee, and creamy cloudy goodness.
