Friday Find ~ Drummer in Durham

Image
We had a nice break. Took a vacation and ended up in Durham, NC. We splurged and stayed at a great hotel, 21c Museum Hotel Durham . Found an art fair unexpectedly and just wandered and enjoyed. I love being a bit spontaneous like that. And coming across a great performance by the Silver Drummer Girl . A really great art fair. A really great trip. Some very enjoyable time with family. A nightmare of a trip back, but glad we went. The nightmare is a long story that I may never tell, but let's just say I started feeling like the character Victor Nevorski in a good movie, The Terminal . We were stuck in the airport for more than 12 hours, wandering and waiting. I lost hubby for a good hour and a half. He doesn't have a cell phone, so you can imagine how hard it is to find someone in a sea of people with a pesky security department separating you most of the time as it turned out. But, we did make the best of it after all and decided more breaks are a necessity. Bu...

Two for Tuesday! I Will Buy You A New Life with One Hit Wonder

Image
It's another installment of 'get this song into your head - so it gets out of mine'. And a bonus Two for Tuesday, because I just didn't have time to hit "publish" on this blog yesterday. We have this album , Everclear 's So Much for the Afterglow , released in 1997, and it got put in the CD player the other week. Yes, we are old-skoolin' it with actual CD's in a CD player. (Not completely okd-skoolin' it with an AM Radio though) As you may have forgotten, when you start a CD player, it plays only the songs that are in there. I do think we are lucky to have a 5 disc player, and I believe it does have a shuffle feature, but that is not set at the moment so it plays one CD, moves on to the next, repeat 5 times. Also, if you forgot, it is kind of a pain to find CD's you actually want to listen to from your 15-25 year old, rather large and vaired collection. So you put in a set of 5 CD's and there they stay for weeks. So, this...

Featured Artisan ~ Frauke from Handmade Fuzzy

Image
This week, the featured artisan is a very talented, good friend of mine - Frauke from Handmade Fuzzy .  I 'met' Frauke online, we are both Zibbetters, meaning we sell on Zibbet.com . Through forums, facebook, and some great groups, we developed a friendship, and finally met in person a few years after conversing online.  In person, sweet as ever. I so wish we lived closer as I think we would be getting together all the time to chat, share ideas, and basically motivate each other to be the best that we can be. Because that is the type of person she is.  Her talents are so many, she just lets creativity take over and 'wham' , she has a beautiful finished product. (Her mice are just the cutest, btw. And I almost can't wait for my oldest to be in medical school so I can get him a Stethoscope Cover !) You will have fun browsing her shop, you are certain to find something you must have. Show her some love, comment, and visit her shop. Featured Artists Hand...

Music Monday! Kiss That Frog

Image
'Frogass!' huh? I was confused at this outburst. Hubby is giggling, though I don't believe he is actually awake. 'Why did you make so many shipwrecks?' Um, we don't live near the ocean hun, and I didn't cause any shipwrecks. 'Frogasses are so small!' (imagine fingers now showing how tiny a frog's ass is) I roll my eyes, call him Frogass, and take the coffee back in the kitchen.  (I bring him coffee every day to wake him up, aren't I a sweet wife?) Well, the bribe of coffee didn't work that day. Hubby was still in dreamland when I tried to wake him up at 7am to see off my cousin who had visited. She was leaving early, as it was a long drive home. So I let him sleep. When he finally got up about an hour later, I said 'Morning Frogass'!  H e started laughing. Apparently he remembered his dreams! I showed him this video I found, and he said, 'Gabriel and I were there together! He gets it!' Oh, I wish...
