Music Monday ~ Biko and Duckie

Image
Yes, we did it. We got  a pup. Or should I say toddler. He is a doggy toddler. We named him Biko. He is a rescue doggy, and it has been quite the journey so far. I keep reminding myself of The 3's - 3 days, 3 weeks, 3 months .  It has proven to be true and helpful to remember the stages. We are approaching the 3 months soon, so of course I had to do a Music Monday with the inspiration song, even though I mentioned on FB that because he chewed my laptop charger, a sock of mine, a bra of mine, hubby's earbuds, my running shoes, and now countless toy ducks in less than 10 minutes, he didn't deserve mention. But here I am, dedicating a blog to the loving and quite gentle, though energetic, coconut loving, Boxer-Pit-Something else mix, Biko. Named after a Youtube music listening session and going through a long list of names. We thought Biko was a good fit. He is a rescue, and was abused, and had a skin irritation. We took him in when others just couldn't. Biko roll...

Music Monday ~ Digging In The Dirt

Image
Take this as literal, as in actually digging in the dirt and sand. The song relates to, as says Gabriel, "During this period I discovered the most unbelievable phenomena within myself, characteristics which I value for myself, but also characteristics with which I would rather not be confronted, like unlimited rage, or merciless hatred." But no such rage or hatred was involved in this digging. Only curiosity and awe at the finds. This led to research, a digging of sorts, for information on practices long changed and nearly lost. The site was next door to a cemetery, and after the earth and sand was greatly moved for a new development, these things were near the surface! Very interesting finds, and the mind does want the stories that go along with such things. Thankfully, hubby is a pro researcher, having the interest and curiosity to search and search until every possible thing is found out, every possible theory, scenario, etc. At times, it is tough to keep...

Music Monday! Kiss That Frog

Image
'Frogass!' huh? I was confused at this outburst. Hubby is giggling, though I don't believe he is actually awake. 'Why did you make so many shipwrecks?' Um, we don't live near the ocean hun, and I didn't cause any shipwrecks. 'Frogasses are so small!' (imagine fingers now showing how tiny a frog's ass is) I roll my eyes, call him Frogass, and take the coffee back in the kitchen.  (I bring him coffee every day to wake him up, aren't I a sweet wife?) Well, the bribe of coffee didn't work that day. Hubby was still in dreamland when I tried to wake him up at 7am to see off my cousin who had visited. She was leaving early, as it was a long drive home. So I let him sleep. When he finally got up about an hour later, I said 'Morning Frogass'!  H e started laughing. Apparently he remembered his dreams! I showed him this video I found, and he said, 'Gabriel and I were there together! He gets it!' Oh, I wish...

Music Monday! Shock the Monkey - no shock the CAT!

Image
Today was 'Give the Cat a Hair Cut Day' here. No, her name isn't monkey, nor does she look like one, but SHOCKED you could say she was. The 'Before'. She knew what was coming, and kept trying to hide. As you can tell, this isn't the best hiding spot, so we got her. But she didn't like it one bit.  The sound of an unhappy cat is disturbing...and I just couldn't get Shock the Monkey out of my head.  Even though it is not about animal rights , but about jealousy, the lyrics 'don't you know you got to Shock the Monkey' seemed to fit. I can think of many other situations this song pops in my head too...just one of those songs! Enjoy. Now for the 'After'. She  still  looks mad, and I interrupted her bathing herself. I know, not the best haircut. But her hair was long, and hair clippers do not like fine long cat hair. And YOU Try to run noisy clippers near her 'lion mane'. I have a scratch or two trying that.  One quarter ...

Climbing up on Solsbury Hill I can see the city lights Wind was blowing Time stood still Streetlight Shrouded in Fog View from my driveway this morning It is a song of new beginnings and new challenges , and New Years and Mondays always bring new beginnings and new challenges. For me, the challenge will be gearing up for Toekini season and finding shows and festivals to apply for this year.  The challenge is  putting to motion plans Raige has had since last fall,  to think Summer in the middle of winter, and really push Raige to productivity! What challenges will you face this week, and this year? Hazed Path View of my driveway this morning
